 | Z man (0) 03/12/2006 | Hey SZinhonshu (45) do your homework dude....Miami's athketes have an excellent graduation rate, in fact most 5th year seniors are half way through grad school by the time they graduate.
UM may have been a joke academically in the 80s and early 90s, but now its actually a difficult school to get into - example: in 2004 more than 17000 applications were denied for the mere @ 2000 freshman spots.
Do your research - the new Dean, Shalala has this school way on the rise academically.

The fan support is also very lousy. They can't sellout more than 2 games a year, even when tickets are only $10.00. Their booster club actually let OSU fans join and buy Fiesta Bowl tickets from the Miami fans. They only had about 4,000 fans in Miami compared to about 65,000 for OSU.

 | Southga (0) 04/10/2003 | Miami WON the National Championship. It was blatantly obvious that the referre threw the flag AFTER the receiver missed the ball. That was a great defensive play and a BAD break for the CANES. Don't get me wrong, Ohio State played like hell, but Miami could have blown them out if it wasn't a game of inches. GO CANES! By the way, Dorsey is getting a bad break in the preliminary draft, he is a DAMN GOOD quarterback.

 | magellan (176) 01/04/2003 | Wow - what a heartbreaker. Miami played well enough to win, and had almost more compelling story lines than you could count... Dorsey gets hurt on third and eleven in overtime, and backup QB Crudup hits for a critical 8 yard gain... kicker hits a brutally tense 40 yarder to send the game to overtime... kick returner gives Miami a chance to get to overtime, after fumbling a pass the series before that might have cost Miami the game...Dorsey comes back from injury to complete a fourth down and three.... Miami battles back despite losing Mcgahee to injury. What a game - probably the most compelling college football game I have ever seen.

Everyone always underrates Miami because of the trouble with the NCAA but it has all changed and we r going for 6 national championships!!! I also wanted to say that i dont understand y people r always putting UM down even when they win they r like oh dorsey was off that day or whatever but it doesnt matter cuz UM is gonna kill OSU on friday!!! GO CANES!!!!!

 | otlady27 (0) 01/04/2002 | I'm not a fan of college football, but after seeing what Miami did the home town team (Neb. Cornhuskers) it's safe to say the 'Canes are the best team in college football. Their defense was awesome, encouraging the Huskers to turnover the ball three times (!) in the first half and later in the game, the defense made some great plays, including a couple in which Husker players got knocked flat on their asses, not even knowing what hit them. Ken Dorsey looks like the next Kurt Warner, after seeing the dead-on accurate bombs he threw. I'm glad for the Hurricanes because they shut up and depressed all the Husker faithful with no lives I am surrounded by everyday and have to put up with. It's kind of funny seeing all the "Big Red" folks so ... blue! Congrats, Miami.

 | Davis21Wylie (1) 01/04/2002 | Miami was ripped off by the BCS in both 2000 and 2001. They had what really was the second-best team in the country in 2000, but were robbed of the right to play in the Orange Bowl, and consequently Oklahoma never got to play the real number two...Fast forward to 2001, where the Canes dominated throughout the year, and were locked into the number one seed. Everything's fine, right? Nope, because the same BCS computers that denied UM in 2K repudiated Oregon or Colorado, teams that had a legit claim to being #2, instead selecting the Nebraska "We just lost to Colorado by 26 and allowed 62 points, but I know we deserve to be number two" Cornhuskers. So how was Miami robbed? Well, if you watched the much-hyped "National Championship Game" on ABC, you saw that there was no way Nebraska deserved to be there. They got beat by Miami worse than they got beat by the Buffs! Don't let Miami's mere 3 second-half points fool you, either. They could have had 70 if they had kept letting Dorsey loose to throw bombs in Andre Johnson's direction like they did in the 1st half! Miami got gypped because they won't ever get a chance to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they're #1. Had Oregon played, I'm sure it wouldn't have been so lop-sided. But still, congratulations to the Miami Hurricanes, we'll remember them as champions, and they may have had the best NCAA Football team ever!

Miami had a great recruiting class and just reloaded for the next season. We will see who leads in the BCS next time.

 | Jimmie (2) 01/05/2001 | Miami plays great ball and wins a lot of big games, but why don't they have more fan support? Why is their stadium never full? If nearly 30,000 Alabama fans went all they way to Los Angeles for their season opener against UCLA (and look at how bad Alabama was last season) why don't the far more numerous and affluent residents of south Florida show that kind of support for Miami? Does anyone have an explanation for this?

 | Jaime (0) 01/04/2001 | Congrats to Miami for playing a good hard-nosed game against Florida. Back in '92 it was very easy to dispise Miami. Their swaggering thuglike behavior alienated most of the country. Their humiliation by Alabama in the Sugar Bowl was welcomed by millions of people. However, the Miami team I watched the other night was tough, highly disciplined, and sportsmanlike, they earned a good victory and are to be congratulated.

 | Brandon (0) 12/17/2000 | Miami has always been a highly ranked team. They recruit from all over the nation. Unfortunately the conference they play is too strong and there is the constant threat to lose week after week.

 | emassey (0) 12/17/2000 | This is a fun team to watch. They are never given the credit they deserve until they prove themselves at the end of the year. This is a team that never fails to compete and upset the top team. Also they send players to the pros with a good education.

 | Player 33 (0) 12/16/2000 | Miami is going to win the national title now that they got my boy D.J. Their offense can't be stopped. All they need is a couple of big plays from their defense and it's guaranteed they're title bound.

 | Cholera (0) 12/15/2000 | Miami football is back. Butch Davis has done an excellent job recruiting talent from all over the US and has complemented an offense, especially with young QB Ken Dorsey, who will ensure a rise back to national prominence.

 | dnutzdere (0) 12/14/2000 | Wow, this team has really turned its program around in the past few years. No longer are Jimmy Johnson, drug dealiing, loan-sharking, gambling players/coaches warming the sidelines in Coral Gables. This school has actually been able to maintain a formidable and respectable program. Adding DJ Williams from LaSalle was a plus.

 | jriker (0) 12/14/2000 | With newly acquired Ken Dorsey at the helm, Miami will be a force to reckon with for years to come. Dorsey(from Marimonte HS) was always a great QB, playing against him was never easy as he beat our team very bad.

 | Canes Girl (0) 12/14/2000 | This team has truly performed a miracle!
People forget that the NCAA almost killed this program with 3 years of sanctions, losing between 25-30 scholarships. People may call the last 3-4 years "disappointing", but I call them HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL all things considered.
Thanks Butch for saving our great program.

 | Lister00169 (0) 12/13/2000 | After a disappointing 1999-2000 season, Miami has returned to good form this year. Both the offense and defense are playing with the determination to return to the championship game and once again become the best. With Santana Moss as the go to receiver, Miami has a major offensive weapon that defenses have to account for and attempt to stop. The defense has been playing Warren Sapp style football; aggressive, energetic and relentless. Miami are clear contenders for the national championship.

 | rpani (0) 12/13/2000 | This is a team on the rise. They used to be a dominant team in the past but lost their glory. When Gino Torreta left it was all bad. But now with the edition of Ken Dorsey, Santa Moss and DJ Williams, everyone better watch out.

 | topplayah (0) 12/12/2000 | Miami beat Florida State, which is a top football team. My friend went to Miami, with a full ride scholarship for football. His name is DJ Williams, and he was the top high school prospect last year, ranked #1 in the country. He is running things over there.

 | j-boy (0) 11/22/2000 | I give Miami a four because they have a few players on their team that I used to play with. As a whole, the team is pretty good, and they have some good, young athletes from the Bay. So, it looks like the Bay Area is putting it down for the state of Florida. But seriously, if Miami focuses, they could really start beating a lot of these teams in their conference. I think they'll finish with a good record.

 | Rayo Beta (0) 08/20/2000 | The NCAA and Sports Illustrated tried to punish the very program that has MORE NFL PLAYERS THAN ANY OTHER (check it out). Well those 2 institutions failed, and the UM Program and tradition lives on (and will continue to feed the NFL for many years to come).
