Tough deal for a promising kid whose career had just got started. I never saw him pitch, but knew he was well regarded and got a break this year because of injuries to the Angels rotation.

This is some sobering news to see on Sportscenter. Nick Adenhart had just pitched his 4th career game last night, and done particularly well. I follow baseball and knew his name, but had never really seen him play. Apparently a driver ran a red light and struck the car in which four passengers, including Adenhart were driving. Three of those passengers have passed away and the fourth is in critical condition. Although I know they are people just like anybody else, it is just natural for fans to assume that professional athletes will always be there for the next game. Seeing highlights about how the guy pitched earlier in the morning, only to see his death reported a few hours later is a reminder about how any of our lives can change or end so quickly.
