this year oklahoma is going to be great...
many people say they wont be bc of thompson and the oline, but have we forgotten we have AD, and the great defense, and wide receivers who i believe can catch a tought ball if needed....but thompson isn't that bad of a QB and if i remember right two years ago every body wanted THOMPSON over the great JASON WHITE, but now all of a sudden thompson is this bad player....its BS...
i look for Thompson to grown and be a good contributor, and they say it will be another blow out by texas bc of the new QB situation, but the reason we got BLOWN AWAY last year is bc we didn't has AD and we hadan inexperienced secondary that didn't improve til the end of the season and TEXAS had a QB by the name of Vince YOung, this is actually a good deal for ou...bc when BOB STOOPS wins it all with a "SORRY" QB and a "sorry" oline.....Bob stoops should get more respect as a coach and finally all the haters can shut their mouths...it will be a cindereall story for THOMPSON and the OU program....GO SOONERS!!! and by the way, to the NEBRASKA FANS ON THIS THING, um, just when exactly was the last time u went to the NC....yeah, well we've been 3 times under stoops 7 years and one one,
and all huskers can shut up until they actually beat OU....

UPDATE-Oklahoma fans beware of what you ask for...Nobody is ready to face the Trojans...Awesome Defense (remember defense Oklahoma) High Powered offense=BALANCE...There is a reason they are rated #1!!!! Hey Clarkone68...2004 Texas Tech 70 NU 10. I do not say this gloatingly, I despise OU and like NU because they used to be able to beat Oklahoma. Oklahoma has a very good team this year. However, the students and fans of Oklahoma had better get used to the University of Southern california fight song. Because they will be hearing it numerous times as USC clobbers UO in the BS (I mean BCS) championship game. Go USC

They're one of very few teams who have a chance to go undefeated this year. (Even though they won't...)

OU is fun to slam! But, most of the time they do produce a good team. However, last year (2003) they had a choking problem. After that season, I understand the new international symbol for choking was changed from holding ones throat to OU! Go OU, beat Texas!

They'll contend for it all this year, if not simply because of that defense; almost everybody is back. It's just the best defense in the country, no question about it. They'll have trouble scoring, though. I wonder about them at every offensive skill position: Jason White is fragile mentally and physically; Brent Rawls will replace him early in the year. Without Quentin Griffin, they'll struggle to move the chains; last year, he and Hybl were basically their only weapons on offense. The recieving corps are middle-of-the-road. They play a favorable schedule, though. I don't see a team on there that they can't beat.

Taking into account tradition, coaching, fan support, and the current quality of the team, I'd have to say OU ranks first.

Sooners...team of the 50's? Maybe...team of the 70's ...Maybe. Other decades....Bring back Bud Wilkinson!!!!! Barry didn't do so well in other places, including Dallas. Now that Oklahoma has had more competition than Nebraska they have struggled a bit....HMMM!!!!

Oklahoma is a great team but the person called SOONER above is a real LOSER - he put 1-star for Miami just out of spite - all of his opinions should be discredited. SOONER YOU ARE A PATHETIC LOSER - HOW MANY TIMES DID MIAMI SPANK YOUR OVER-SIZED, UNDER-BRAINED RED-NECK TEAM.... Also, for all Users who are not from Oklahoma - PLEASE DO NOT PUT 1-STAR JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE A TEAM - LET'S TRY TO BASE THINGS ON TALENT.

Oklahoma is having a wonderful year. Josh Heupel is up in the top spot for the Heisman race. He finished a remarkable 29 of 37 for 374 yards and two TD's. They defeated top contenders like Kansas to get ranked in the top three. Considered #1 an opinion polls. They really will have to show their stuff this weekend against Texas.

Bob Stoops sure has done a great job turning this program around. He has one of the top players in the country in Josh Heupel. And, his defense did a nice job against Nebraska which shouldn't be a huge surprise given his history as a defensive coordinator with Florida and Kansas State. With big and convincing wins in three straight games against Texas, Kansas State, and Nebraska, the Sooners deserve to be number one. Unfortunately, they may have to beat Nebraska again to win the Big 12 championship.
