They have the best college running back since Barry Sanders. They have the best college QB. They have an excellent head coach who is a master at preparing his team for the Bowl. They have won two straight national championships and are favored to win a third.

Endlessly overrated, just like their cousins from South Bend, the Trojans coast along on a wussy schedule and then whine when "the mean ole system" doesn't have them in the Championship Game. Be careful about asking for playoffs, you just might go out in the first round every year.

The USC Trojans football team, led by Pete Carroll, are perennial favorites to win the National Championship. With its rich football legacy of eight recognized national titles (and seven Heisman Trophy Award winners), many legendary players who have gone on to play professional football, and top recruiting classes to reload their program year after year, the Trojans remain among the most elite college football programs of all-time. But any team can have a bad outing, and simply because the USC Trojans are the prohibitive favorites year after year does not mean they cannot be beaten. Nevertheless, it will still take an effort like no other by a special team to stop these Trojans and their annual quest for the National Championship (as can be attested by their bitter crosstown rivals, the UCLA Bruins).

Look, one of the most highly over-rated teams of 2006- Choked on thoughts of playing in a National Championship game, oops UCLA took that one away!!

Great team, but as arrogant as they come. Maybe they deserve to be a little arrogant, but I hate southern cal fans. They think they are the enlighted ones, and everyone else in the country are savages. They act like it's a privilege just to be at their staduim or is the colosium strictly theirs. With such a good team they should have a home of their own.

i'm a die hard lsu fan, so as much as i hate the organization i can't deny the impressive athletes they attract to their program. good football school but very overrated considering their competition (conference & non-conference). leinart is a jerk for not losing with dignity ("we were the better team they just made some good plays"). oh and how could i forget to congratulate them on a brilliant ONE-peat national championship run. ONE national championship in 2004 sure is the makings of a dynasty.

Watching espn's coverage of USC made me root against the trojans in the rose bowl. Everyday they compared classic footabll teams to USC. Hey espn, how about talking USC's opponent, the Texas Longhorns! What does the USC Trojans and trojan condoms have in common? They both break under pressure! USC is a good team, espn's coverage made me sick!

Great program over the years. These past years have been overhyped, but over all very good.

I have attended SC for college...but dislike the arrogance a lot of the students and fans have towards their opponents. Some of the USC athletes also have attitude problems as they love to smack talk and mouth-off to their opponents during warm-up before a game. I really didn't like my experience at USC, hence root for opponents playing against USC. I was almost going to have a ball-day when Notre Dame was suppose to beat them. However, my hopes went down that day as Lienhart was pushed into the endzone. Then came the good ol' RoseBowl day...when the whole world was vying for SC. Nope....the Longhorns slashed that 34-winning streak to an END. I hope this was a humbling experience for some of the trojan athletes (*ahem....leinhart!!).

Why dont they get 5 stars from everyone? At least a 4 star. This team is amazing. Every player is good on the offense. They got the top 2 runningbacks in NCAA and maybe the top QB. Dwayne Jarrett is a top 5 wide receiver too. Bush is the best player in the nation. 34 straight wins is all I have too say for my 5 stars.

So what that USC plays in the Pac-10? Im from Michigan and I am a Michigan fan, but i don't care what you all say, no matter where USC played they would win. Its not just about who you play, its about HOW you play. And anyone that has seen 5 minutes of a USC game would know that they are a amazing program.

I have to agree with everyone who thinks USC is a frickin joke! They play in the Pac-10! Who besides them is ever any good? Okay so California had 2 decent years, thats it! Look at the SEC and the Big Ten. in the SEC, you have florida, georgia, tennessee, LSU, alabama. In the big ten, michigan, ohio state, wisconsin, purdue, michigan state. There's competition! I am so sick and tired of hearing all of this crap of how they're so good. I'll admit reggie bush is a great back, but look at the defenses that he goes up against. They just flat out suck! All of this USC hype needs to end!

Great team, great program. BTW, with respect to some other comments, I thought this forum is about football, not basketball. The Tar Heels would not want to play USC in football. USC proved they are the best team in college football, in any league, SEC included.

Sorry, but I have to say it. Hey Sean Salisbury, if you were in the Dean Dome tonight, you would realize not everybody wants to be a Trojan. In fact, you couldn't pay me to be a Trojan in the Dome tonight.

This year they are the best team until they lose(probably to oklahoma at the orange bowl). They have shown determination by beating both stanford and cal in close games. I may want them to lose, but this program has shown consistency through tese two seasons. #1 until proven otherwise.

Wake Up all you envious wannabe football programs (not to mention the police blotter for Oklahoma, Miami, Ohio State et al.) The University of Southern California is the current National Champion, they are currently undefeated and ranked Number One. Although they may not have the strength at receiver this year in comparison to last year, it will be enough to make it back to back Championships. The only good thing that can be said about the University of Miami Hurricanes is, that when they play a home game the crime rate in Miami drops by about 50%. Since the majority of the criminals are in the stadium and on the field. GO TROJANS!!

incredible team, qb matt leinart was somewhere in the top 8 for the heisman i think tied for 5th. the defensive secondary really needs to improve but their pass rush was unbelievable. they still have talented receivers as well as a few top 20 WR recruits. the freshmen tailback reggie bush should start next year because of his incredible speed and hands. his numbers were deflated because he had to share the backfield with two other talented backs. look for them to make another run to number one.

One of the joys in life is seeing USC lose. My opinion of them would be much higher if it weren't for the arrogance of their fans. They're usually a decent ballclub, but I'm sick of hearing how they should have been national champions in years where their record reflected an easy schedule, not a championship caliber team, especially in the PAC-8 era. Any school that beats SC and loses every other game is a winner to me.

They're going to slip this year. Norm Chow is a genius; he single-handedly turned Carson Palmer into the Heisman winner last year. However, Matt Cassel, Matt Leinhart, or Brandon Hance will not come close to replicating Palmer's 2002 numbers. With Sultan McCullough and Justin Fargas gone, they're going to leave the rushing to freshmen like Reggie Bush and LenDale White. I like their recievers; not just Mike Williams but Keary Colbert, who should surpass Kareem Kelly's 2002 performance. The heart and soul of the defense, Troy Polamalu, is gone, and the defense as a whole, though strong up front, will not be as good as last year's outstanding unit. The schedule looks a little brutal as well, with trips to Auburn, Arizona St., Notre Dame, and Washington. They'll have trouble putting up 10 wins.

With all the talent USC has it's pitiful that they don't excel as one of the best programs in the nation. They must have little off the field discipline. They are too talented to lose so many games.

Definitely the biggest disappointment in football this year. They were ranked #10 and after 4 losses in 4 conference games, a pre-season favorite became the conference doormat.

They are a good offensive team early in the season, but as the season progresses you can count on them to lose the fight. They have a great starting line up but later they give up with injuries.

How does USC, one of the PAC-10 powerhouses, get blown out by one of the worst teams in their division? They were champs back in the day, but look at them now.
