07/21/2007 | Im sorry, charlie ward played better than tommie fraizer in the 93 and 94 orange bowl.
tommie is a damn good qb but charlie was better. Tommie ran better, Charlie passed better. but charlie ran better than tommie passed. he almost passed for 300 yards and had more completions than tommie had attempts. during the 93 season charlie passed for more than 3000 yards ran for 500 and completed almost 70 percent of his passes. the best college qb of all time

10/06/2004 | for all the talk of ward being too short or not a strong enough arm,then why was drew breezs drafted.ALSO Cade mcdown,Rex Grossman, jeff garcia. THE nfl was never big on mobile qb's especially black ones. All these guys barely are 6'1 ward was the same height,with better vision and arm.

02/07/2004 | I was at the 94 Orange Bowl when Tommie Frazier outplayed Charlie Ward. Make no mistake Ward was great at everything. Had the NFL not viewed black OB's through such a 1940's prisim Charlie Ward would have been great there as well. Since Andre Ware failed in the NFL people were wary of anoter black QB. Before the draft Ward told the NFL not to draft him if he wasn't a #1 rd pick. Look at the film and he was much better than McNabb. This was before 1998 when the NFL finally accepted black athletes as QB. Sad but true. Daunte Culpepper was a phenom and that is what it takes for someone to change their view. Then Vick came along and now the black QB is widely accepted. However, many in the NFL and fans remain skeptical. This bias cost Frazier the Heisman in 1995 as well.
