Amazing kick returner. I remember watching that 99-yard kickoff return in Super Bowl XXXI. Really good in college, and decent in the pros.

Overall, Desmond was a good college football player. But not great. Sure he made a few spectacular plays, but he wasn't always consistent. Now don't get me wrong, he's one of the most electrifying returners to ever play, but that doesn't make him a great receiver. Yeah he made an amazing catch against Notre Dame, I was there. But i still dont think you can call him the best to ever play. And to the user uofmsparty, how can you say he was better than Anthony Carter!? And you shouldn't even be allowed to comment on this because you cant use the words U of M and sparty (d-bags by the way) in the same sentence! If you're gonna name anyone the greatest to ever play, its Anthony Carter! Where do you think the tradition of the #1 at Michigan came from?! Hello!? King Carter! Carter the Darter! Anthony Carter for God's sake! P.S. to brady is 1 tommy frazier was a quarterback at Nebraska! Idiot!

Electrifying on the field, and he continually scored when he had the ball. One of the most prolific WR's ever to play the college game. His diving, 4th down, game winning TD catch against Notre Dame is one of the His Heisman pose against Ohio State was one of the classic moments in college football history!

Each of my first three years at the University of Michigan, we lost to the jackasses at Notre Dame. It was really, really frustrating. So by the time my senior year rolled around (1992), it was very important for me to see our team teach the Irish a lesson. The game turned out to be really close, and late in the 2nd half it still could have gone either way. We needed a touchdown, and Desmond answered the challenge. We were at Notre Dame's 20 or 30 yard line, and Elvis Grbac tossed a floater into the right corner of the end zone. I was sure Elvis overthrew it, but Desmond accelerated with an unbelievable burst of speed and layed himself out for a diving catch, basically sealing the win for us. Without Desmond, I'm convinced we would have lost that game, along with a couple others that season. He did what great players do: deliver big in big games. Desmond definitely deserved the Heisman that year, and he deserves to be ranked among the top college players ever.

He played for Michigan, so he has a bad rep.

Heisman trophy winner who made one of the great receptions in college history to beat Notre Dame. Great college receiver and punt returner.

all he did was return kicks. his receiving was nothing spectacular.
