A lesser team would have been devastated by that last play of the first half and come out in the second half just happy that they had at least got to see Springsteen. But the Cards (especially the defense) kept taking it to the Steelers and made it one of the most exciting championship games in history.
Astromike 01/31/2009
After several seasons of failure, they finally made it to the top. Even if they dont win the Super Bowl, its about time they got some respect after MANY predicted they wouldnt even make it pass Division playoff.

They are very good I think they will bloom this season. also check out the titans they have Bo scaife, Vince young, Chris Johnson, Albert Haynesworth, and Kyle Vanden Bosch They're probably going to the divisional title.

Solid Defense, best WR tandem in the NFL, the best RB for a passing offense since Marshall Faulk, an aging, fragile quarterback, and an abbysmal offensive line. I'm thinking that Edge or Denny Green is going to flip out sometime and throw the offensive line under a bus (they'll have to take lessons from Peyton Manning). Number 2 in the NFC West, will just miss out for the playoffs.

First off, you are right numbah... I'm not going to be that jackass that claims that it's going to be the Cardinals' year. It's probably not. However let me also say that the Cardinals and many of their players are horribly underrated. Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald statistically make up the best wide reciever duo in the NFL with a whopping 2811 recieving yards. If Kurt Warner comes back next year he'll be fine at QB... he's better than most of the other starters in the NFC... that's not much of a compliment. If not then Josh McCown in my opinion could develop into an acceptable though obviously not exciting quarterback. J.J. Arrington will eventually be a good if not possibly even great running back, assuming Arizona can fix what is the root of all of their problems on offense... their line. Their offensive line is God awful! The only real bright spot on the line is Leonard Davis, whom many feel hasn't lived up to expectations. Defensively they are surprisingly in the top 10. They've got some talent that hasn't been molded. There is a lot of speed on the defense, including probably the best defensive player that didn't make the Pro Bowl, Adrian Wilson. Wilson led his team in tackles (109) while BREAKING an NFL record for most sacks by a DB in a season with 8. Also, this is not the worst team in football. They were 5-11 which, though terrible, was as good as or better than 10 other teams. On top of that, they are the ONLY team to finish with both a top 10 defense and a top 10 offense. This is a team that is at least slowly coming out of their awful past to at least mediocrity. If they can keep ahold of some of their young rising stars while they rebuild their line (a task that can takes years) and let their defense fully develop (ditto), they can at least be in contention for the crappy NFC West crown.

Cheer up buckaroos, there's always next year!
numbah16tdhaha 10/19/2005
Ohh, the pain. Even in a weak division they crap themselves. Bring me Denny Green's head now. UPDATE: I made that comment a while ago and it still rings true. Another 0-3 start and Warner is hurt. Now they may have to rely on Josh McCown for a bit. It has become comical to me how these guys find new ways to f*** up every year. UPDATE: Every year some jackass says "this could be the year for the Cardinals" and every year that jackass is wrong. Why be the jackass? I will project nothing but contempt for these rejects! UPDATE: Go Rackers, indeed. NUMBAH'S PA ANNOUNCMENT AT A CARDINALS GAME: Would the parents of the 11 children who wandered on to the field come get them? They are beating the Cardinals. ONE MORE FOR YOU: Through five games Marcel Shipp leads the team in rushing. He has 169 yards and is averaging 2.9 yards per carry and 33.8 per game. That is horrible. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: I have a new weblist on why these guys suck. Feel free to make hash of them. MOVING: They better not move. We just built a stadium (much to my objection) for these clowns. Besides, Bidwell has discovered that he can make money without the whining that will commence in LA when they lose. Why move? THEY DIDN'T LOSE THIS WEEK: They were on their bye week, but I hear they are working on a way to lose that one, too.
alpepper 10/12/2005
Poor Numbah. Now Arizonians can enjoy the angst and disappointment that the Bidwell clan subjected St. Louis to for years. Don't fret, Bill Bidwell will be moving the team to Los Angeles in a few years. Maybe they should just move to Mexico -- at least they enjoy watching Neil Rackers kick all those field goals.
irishgit 09/28/2005
Just wretched, yet again. Can anyone in their front office make a decision? Can anyone on the sidelines call a play? And can anyone on the field execute? Apparently not.
John Candy 09/26/2005
The Cardinals...what can I say? You have professional athletes, USE THEM! Let's hear some noise for crying out loud. I don't know what else to say but good luck, maybe next year.
Mad Hatter 09/26/2005
The only good thing about going to a Cards' game is that it is not hard to find a good seat in the stadium. They are usually empty by half-time. UPDATE: They still have a chance at winnning the division and making the wild card, at 5-9. Something is not right here. UPDATE: They lost to the Seahawks last night, no playoffs for Cardinals, again. UPDATE: I have two members of the Cards on my Fantasy Football Team. Fitzgerald, and the player that has scored most of the teams point so far, Neil Rackers!!!
MariusQelDroma 12/19/2004
So much promise and talent, so little resulting success. Hopefully Dennis Green can make a big shoeprint on the keister of this club and get some better results. UPDATE: As long as Bidwell holds the financial strings, not even Dennis Green can shake some life into this team.
brandonfromva 11/26/2004
Let me be the FIRST to say that this team has the most loyal fans in the NFL. There may not be many of them, but true Cardinals fans are one-of-a-kind. They never give up hope, they don't dwell on the fact that our only football championship came in 1947 b/f the formation of the NFL. What we dwell on is the FUTURE. We're 4-6, got a great coach, and an awesome running back whom NO ONE thought he would be on his way to getting 1,000 yards as a Cardinal, including me. We have quite a future ahead of us, that much is clear. The real question here is who WOULDN't want to be a big red fan??? -Cardinals fan for LIFE. GO CARDINALS.
jmoney52 10/03/2004
Arizona has a football team? Wow! (sarcasm)
OneHungryMonst er 08/25/2004
They're not very good at all.
Stangg 08/11/2004
Team sucks. I thought may be they could suprise some people in getting may close to .500 but losing Shipp, and a questionable injury to their top receiver Boldin is making them look more hopeless. Must suck to be a Cardinals fan. At least the weather is nice there
THEBIRDOG 07/09/2004
Being an Arizona native, in my opinion the first mistake made was the fact that they retained the name of old without giving the new AZ team an identity for itself. Who wants a washed up team nobody else wants? This whole AZ franchise is F.U.B.A.R! Almost every game I have seen in Tempe has more fans rooting for the opposing team than the sucky cardinals. Pure idiocy.
jonhere 07/09/2004
I'm glad I don't live in Arizona
724iniraq 12/31/2003
Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Thanks to Nate Poole for helping to defeat the REAL worst team in football... The Viqueens!
jgls 12/24/2003
looks like a fraternity football team on its third keg of beer. very possibly the worst owner in the history of sports. name should be changed from the cardinals to the fleas.
roblinb 11/08/2003
Holy crap, these guys let Plummer go and think that a shot Emmitt Smith (who's gone for probably the year) and an average and very old Jeff Blake are going to bring them life? This team has always been awful, it seems, and there is no talent anywhere here. Maybe Ryan Leaf could come back since their penchance for losing seems never to be appeased. When a team is this lousy for this long, usually it's time to move to another city. Baghdad could use an NFL team!
intoxicatedalc hohali 05/04/2003
by far the worst and most embarrassing franchise...better luck in L.A.
Rusty 04/22/2003
The CRUD-inals
TheMyth 04/11/2003
They lost their 2 biggest offensive stars, their defense is unreliable at best, so can there be any hope for the Cardinals? Probably not this year. Emmitt is an upgrade for the runningbacks, but I hate to say it, he's running on empty. I doubt that a change of scenery will refuel him. They will have a horrendous passing game, meaning that Emmitt will have to face 8 or 9 men in the box. It's hard to run with an average, at best, line facing all those bodies. The management needs to wake up and not worry so much about their current players, but their idiotic offseason moves that always put them in bad positions to win.
President -X-D 04/04/2003
Consistent losers. Emmit Smith will probably get 1000+ yards this year but Arizona won't win more than 6 games. This team has the worst ownership in the league with the possible exception of the Bengals.
angusmacpherso n 04/03/2003
Have fun in football purgatory, Emmitt.
2003 02/23/2003
I kinda like the Cards, but over the last 15 years or so, they've resembled a college team trying to make their way in the NFL.
Raider-hater 02/22/2003
this unfortunate team has been one of the most consistently bad teams over the past 20 years. I doubt their stadium is very full during games.
Gecklund311 01/12/2003
The place where draft picks go to flop. This team is a failure in almost every way possible from the owner on down. Dave McGinnis is a nice man and a good coach - I hope he can escape the Siberia of football soon.
Kyleg1 05/02/2001
I'm from St.Louis, and I NOT a Rams fan. I am a die hard Cardinals fan. Yes the Cardinalas as a team are horrible. However the problem, is not on the field, but higher up the chain ofcommand. For any Cardinals fans out there, please perserve sooner or later (probably later rather than sooner), the current ownership of the team will fade away and the Cardinals can start playing like a real football team.
NotEbbert 03/27/2001
I'm an Arizona native and I have to tell it like it is; the Cardinals stink year in and year out. I still cheer for them (I have to!) but there's no expectations for them to do well. Hmmm...maybe that's the problem! If Bidwell sold the team to a real football minded owner, we might see some consistency.
Bob2 10/13/2000
These guys should really be in St Louis - the RAMs should be in L.A. and then we could go shopping for another team. AZ Razorbacks sounds good to me. Let's put em in Bullhead City or Lake Havasu so if they play like S__t we can go swimming (Lake Havasu) or swim to Laughton from Bullhead City. Then we could really try to get lucky!

Super Bowl Bound- NOT!
heyd3407du 12/19/1999
Good, young defense. Inconsistent offense. Jake Plummer and Andre Woodsworth will be superstars. They will be contenders in a couple of years.
