The Carolina Panthers began play in 1995. Led by their first head coach, Dom Capers, the team made the NFC Championship game in its second year of existence. An NFC West team, the Panthers play their home games at Ericsson Stadium in Charlotte, NC. (Add picture)

I don't know how old these review are, But it is 2007 and Man are they bad this year. Jake is hurt, So the team is pretty much done. Just hope they will do better next year. ???

You have to really admire the job John Fox has done with this team. Fox rarely gets the credit he deserves for taking this team from 1-15 (pre-Julius Peppers) and bringing them to a contender every year.

Delhomme isn't flashy, but he gets the job done. Steve Smith always plays with a chip on his shoulder, and Keyshawn Johnson was a brilliant add (assuming he doesn't go T.O. on everyone).

I don't like that Will Weatherspoon is gone, but Thomas Davis has amazing ability and potential. He may have a learning curve to overcome, but he should be fine in their system.

This team will go as far as their runningbacks can take them. DeShaun Foster is a poor man's Fred Taylor (great back with major health concerns). The future of this team and it's success may just lay with DeAngelo Williams. However, I fear he may have the same problems as Foster (not because of his size, but the fact that he packed Memphis on his back while he was in college).

If their backs stay healthy, they will edge out Tampa Bay for the division. If not then Tampa takes it for the second straight year.

Wow guys. I'm impressed. A lot of positives going into this season, especially that win against the Patriots. Keep up the good work, and don't muff this season.

Carolina has alot of upside going into this year if they can avoid too much trouble from the steroid scandal.

What can i say about this team, The Work hard, and play harder than anybody, when it comes down the strech, But why at the begining of seasons are they so weak? I live in Charlotte and see them Try so hard every Year. Maybe this year. The draft was good to them.

Im amazed at the comeback...theres a big chance of winning the division but superbowl is a long ways off. Just don't be fooled and think that last year was luck. The panthers are good and they have been plagued with injury this year...the top rushers...kasay for a couple of games....Went to the bucs panthers game....it was awesome...going to the game this weekend too...Im all for the panthers ruling the world!! Don't count them out... Go Panthers!

Excellent team. They can win their division, but they don't have a good chance of winning the Superbowl.

I don't know how this team blew the Super Bowl after all the close games they won during the 03 season. I've never had more fun during an NFL season as I had watching them every Sunday. Watch out ya'll Jake is back!

ORIGINAL: Question, is this a list of NFL organizations or a list of current teams (ie the 2003/4 season as of this comment)? Assuming the latter, with a 5-0 start and currently 8-2 midway through the season, the 2003 team certainly deserves four stars at this point as it remains too early in the season for five. The Carolina Panthers have obviously created a winner thus far around defense, special teams, and the ground game, overcoming a substantial weakness at the quarterback position. If the list is for organizations, then I would say three stars as the franchise is too young to say above or below average. Note also that as of the date of this comment the description provided by RateItAll still says that the Panthers are in the NFC West. I'm sure everyone knows that the NFL has been restructured and that the team is now in the new NFC South; however, I wanted to mention this fact for clarity. UPDATE: With a three game run in the NFC Playoffs (two wins on the road) and now playing in the Super Bowl, the Carolina Panthers easily deserve 5 stars (and the other reviewers and raters need to re-evaluate the team given their current rank on this list of current teams).

This is a hard team to figure out. They start 5-0, including a fairly impressive win over the Colts, and then go 1-2, and in their one win just barely beat the underachieving Saints in OT. Stephen Davis has made a huge difference, but Jake Delhomme is a weak starting quarterback. True, he has more upside than ancient Rodney Peete, but the guy is not going to win many games if he had to throw the ball thirty times. This team is all about keeping it simple, with ball control and defense. So far it has worked, and they have a relatively easy second half with Tampa Bay, Dallas, and maybe Philadelphia being the toughest matches coming up. If they lose to Tampa Bay, the Panthers may hit a wall and stumble. The NFC South was strong last year, but this year it sucks. 9-7 would be plenty good enough to make the playoffs. Look for Carolina to be in the 9-7 to 10-6 range and win the division as long as Tampa Bay doesn't suddenly turn into the team it was last year and snatch 6 or 7 wins out of their remaining 8 games to steal it from Carolina.

What an awesome defense. With the addition of Wilkerson and Stephen Davis. The return of Kris Jenkins, Buckner and Peppers. The only question mark is Jake Delhomme and I believe he will come through and mature with the talent around him. The Carolina Panthers will be a team to reckon with for years to come!

Where does it say that the Carolinas have to have sports franchises? They lose the Hornets and they're in the heart of basketball country! Oh, wait, I get it, they're nouveau-riche in terms of wealth and population, so let's go for it and get hockey while we're at it!

They deserve a 2 1/2, but I give them the benefit of the doubt. They've got to get over their mid season implosions, and they have to find some offense. Chris Weinke has been a bust so far, Jake Delhomme is unproven, so the task of leading this team goes to Rodney Peete. I'm not a Carolina fan, but wouldn't it be one of the biggest NFL stories ever if he could lead his team deep into the playoffs. It would be the 2nd biggest thing in Carolina Panther football's short history.

Jeff Lewis????? What a joke. It won't take long before the boy from Florida State steps in and starts racking up the yardage.
