I went to grad school at George Washington before Jarvis was there. Basketball was more like an intramural sport played in a high school gym. Jarvis comes in and takes them to the Sweet 16. Now that he's gone, George Washington sucks again. Don't know what happened at St. John's, but he sure turned George Washington around.

If he was any good, why did he get fired?

Started off wonderfully, but over the last few years he has recruited atheletes who have embarrassed the university both on and off the court. Plus, he has the arrogance to blame the school for his lack of recruiting skills.

The year before Jarvis coached at George Washington we were 1-27. Three years later we were in the Sweet Sixteen. Tough to argue with that rate and degree of improvement.

I guess not making the NCAA Tourney is good coaching.

I'm so glad that Mike Jarvis decided 2 stay in the NCAA and not take a coaching job in the NBA. It wasn't his fault with all of the drama between the school and leauge being all over Eric Barkley.

A players' coach. You can tell by his scowl and body language that he would be willing to go to bat for any of his players (see how he went after the NCAA over Barkeley's suspension). They say that teams reflect the attributes of their coaches. If that is true, Mike Jarvis is one tough, smart guy.

Mike Jarvis coached the great Felipe Lopez. He coached many other NBA stars.
