I have to admit, he was a good player... but not suitable for coaching (at least not at such a large school such as carolina), the only good thing matt did at carolina was bring in Sean, Rashad, Raymond, and David.

It only took him two years to completly ruin UNC's dominance.....just because you can play doesn't mean you can coach.

A good coach, but he seems to have incited a mass player rebellion with his regime (evidenced by the departures of Joe Forte, Julius Peppers and Ron Curry).

he made an already above average team even better, but he isn`t experienced enough yet to be able to take them to the championship and win.

I agree Doherty is a good long term choice for Carolina. He is a hard worker, good recruiter, and will give UNC a bit of a jolt of youthful energy. But no job in America (OK, maybe Kentucky and Indiana, but that's it) comes with higher expectations.

I think Matt Doherty is a good choice for NC...he has proven he can recruit, he is starting with a good team in place and he has the skills to make them even better.

I know that Doherty was not the first choice for Carolina. Roy Williams was offered the job and if Eddie Fogler, Larry Brown or George Karl had been interested, he would have probably gotten it. Nevertheless, Doherty is a good long-term choice. In his one year at Notre Dame, he proved that he could win and also proved that he could recruit. He revitalized that program after over a decade of mediocre play. His job at Carolina will be a lot easier. The team is in great shape and is a Final Four contender next year. Sure, he'll have big shoes to fill and will have a great deal of pressure to win big and win now. I think Doherty is well-suited to handle it.
