It is a crazy world where Big Game James gets into the Hall after Isiah (spelling?) Thomas. He should have been first ballot. That guy was a stone killer when the chips were on the table.

He may not have the most prolific stats ever (though, they're still quite good) and may not be on everyone's Hall-Of-Fame ballot but "Big-game James" is one of my fav. basketball players of all time. Call him the Pete Sampras of NBA: Not very verbal and sometimes not noticeable but his game was very unique and very fun to watch. I used to pattern my basketball moves after his when I was a teenager (though I'm white and not as athletic). His jump hooks and quick turnarounds and underhand shots were very cool and futuristic and he even looked it with his goggles. A cool, underspoken but very classy person on and off the court who really shined when the it counted the most. I miss him a lot.

Big game James was a great player in his era. However, he doesn't hold a candle to the other all-time greats. He played the bulk of his career with two of the top ten players ever (Magic and Kareem). He wasn't a consistent outside shooter nor was he a great defender. He was a great finisher on the break and without Magic he never would gotten the ball to finish.

A decent player who played in the right system with the right teammates to make him appear a better player than he really was.
