Yes he was great, no doubt about it, but I can't put him on the same level as the others on this list.

One of the great clutch players in ther history of the game and a guy who would never stop moving for the entire 48 minutes. Was also drafted by the Cleveland Browns (even though he never played football at Ohio State.) Hondo was a link to the great Russell led dynasty and also led his own group (with Dave Cowans, JoJo White, Don Nelson, Paul Silas...) to a couple of championships in the seventies. He could play all phases of the game and until the great players that emerged in the Bird-Magic era of the 80's and 90's was arguably among the top ten players ever to play.

The most underrated player ever. For some reason, all-around players like Havlicek and Pippen don't get the credit they deserve.

Though never a Celtic fan, I grew to accept defeat while admiring the heart, tenacity and clutch performance of Hondo Havlicek. Not terribly flashy, but certainly fundamentally sound. In fact, I don't know if this stat is available, but I'd be willing to wager that Hondo had one of the lowest turnover ratio rates. More importantly, John's conduct on the court was above reproach--he carried himself with the grace that is certainly lacking in today's players. His hustle and professionalism makes him an easy pick for the 12-all time greats!!!

Very SOLID player in the "Great 11-Champ." Celtics. Cousey was the glue that made that team great (5 stars). Russell put in the size and boards (strong 4 stars). Havlicek (4 stars), often created the win, by doing everything else that was needed. Key shooter.... -eBrain1. .....
