I guess he was a five, and at the end was a three (maybe). I don't care for him too much and I don't want to give him a four, but I can't erase how good he was.

The Glove seems to have some holes lately...

Another overpaid cry baby. He gets traded to a team and doesn't show up for the physical. Pathetic. During the 2000 Olympics he almost made USA lose because he was hot dogging after a point guard on the opposite team made several jumpers over him.

i love payton. he was a clown in the playoffs, but much love, and dont retire. I probably would if i got traded to the celts though.
democrat1990 07/08/2004
he is maybe the worst player in the nba HE SUCKS
alphonso 06/28/2004
The glove has been exposed as a once great player who is past his prime. He was dreadful in the playoffs.

Payton is the best point guard since Magic. Great defender; he can score a bit too. His personality is less than stellar, but I give him credit for leaving a lot of money on the table to win a ring with the Lakers.

I think that Gary Payton is a good player, but he gets no CREDIT for leaving Milwaukee.

This player still ranks in my top fifteen after so many seasons in the top ten. One of the best defensive players in the history of the league with a more than decent offensive game. If the Lakers win it all in 2004, he will be a big reason why they will be able to do so.

Feel lucky GP. I gave you one star, which is one more than the amount of championship rings you own.
gummocatkilla 05/24/2003
One of the best guards to ever play the game.

Payton is without a doubt the best point guard in the NBA. He has skills and he hates to lose!

You gotta love a guard who plays this kind of defense. Solid shooter and passer. I hate to think of him ending his career without a title. . .
yoshislink 05/10/2002
There is a reason why they call him the glove.

Anchor of the Seattle Sonics, best point gaurd in the world for the past decade.
spro 05/28/2001
The best pg in the game today. I just wish the Sonics hadn't traded what was an amazing Shawn Kemp (several years of eating ago) for that piece of s**t vin baker. You give him talent, he makes that talent work.
Cosmo 04/13/2001
Oh, he's cool, he's real cool. Just ask him. lol
Mikolaj Rogozinski 03/25/2001
shortly:one of the best PGs in the history.All.

Ahh yes, Gary Payton, "The Glove". All I can say is this guy has skills. I just love watching him take it to the hole and making awesome assists. He is one of the nba's greatest ever. Also love his trash talking. Spices up the game a bit.
Emri Noel 01/16/2001
THE GLOVE! Is there anything else I need to say? Gary Payton is the best at everthing, he can shoot (he can score) he is one of the best defensive players and he does all this while dishing out assists plus he can get rebounds given the fact that he is a point gaurd. When Iverson does something other that hog the ball and just score let me know. I want him to get some triple-doubles sometimes but he doesn't because he never passes the ball he reminds me a lot of a guy named Kobe both can score but need to learn teamwork and that is another great attribute to Gary.
Lucky Luciano 12/31/2000
gary payton better for his team than iverson is so lets not talk about iverson anymore. I think if someone runs around the court all game just to score points than they are not anything special and that is exactly what iverson does just to get points. Gary is a smarter and more fundamentally based guard than iverson and he doesn't need to show boat to get his props. And iverson stop trying to top kobe as the best player in the league work on gary and then step up with the big doggs in LA
iverson721 10/20/2000
payton is nothin...he can't shoot...he can drive the lane...defense is great except when he has to guard allen iverson..payton still recovering
the jackal 10/12/2000
the best player in the league if he would shut up for once
magellan 06/20/2000
You have to like his scrappiness. It kills him to lose and he lets everybody know about it. You also have to love that he takes pride in his defense more than he does his offense, yet in recent years has become a very capable scorer. Message to Seattle: Surround Payton with a couple of players, and Payton will get you a ring.
Munson 01/01/2000
Payton is the best all-around point guard in the NBA. The Glove is the best defender in the league and has become a very potent offensive weapon. And, no one can talk trash like him.
