Overall Rating:3.43 based on 184 ratings
Born in 1973, Jason Kidd was selected out of the University of California at Berkeley by the Dallas Mavericks as the second overall pick in the 1994 NBA Draft. Kidd shared Rookie of the Year honors with Grant Hill for the 1994-95 season and was an All-Star his second year in the league. Traded to the Phoenix Suns in 1996, the 6-4 point guard has been a multiple First Team All-NBA selection. (Add picture)

Jason Kidd does not get as much credit as he deserves in the NBA these days. He is looked over by Steve Nash, Tony Parker, and that guy on the Utah Jazz thats name I do not know. I don't understand why because of his impact on the team with getting a tripple double every other night. It is probably because he doesn't score as much as those other three. I also wish he was never traded from the nets to the Mav's, me being a NJ fan and all.

Triple doubles every night is a definate five star. I wish he wasn't making a big deal about getting traded, but it is almost the end of his great career and I guess I can't blame him. I just didn't think he was like that. What I mean by that is demanding trades. I don't like players that do that. But, on the court, he plays the right way and I can forgive him.

He's getting a little older, but if I had to pick any player to get a triple double on any random night, my money would still be on Kidd.

Him and Nash are the best point gaurds in the NBA. Kidd is so valuable because of his court vision. He thinks about the pass before the shot and that's why his teammates respect him. He also can lead the Nets in rebounding because he gets around 8 a game. He is such a great player that is unselfish all the time.

Kidd is still one of the best PG's in the league, but he's losing some steam. I've seen enough games where this guy was less than impressive to only give him 3 and a half stars.

He wins for most underrated player of the NBA. Too bad his team sucks because he can play. I can only hope he gets traded to a descent team so he can get his ring before he gets too old.

Wife beating, HORRIBLE shooting, past his prime, overrated schlub. Steve Nash owns him, hell even Marburry does.

Best point guard in the NBA. Not only does he pass better than any other NBAer, but he gets a truckload of rebounds and has a good enough pull-up jumper to keep the D honest on the pick-and-roll. His passes are almost always crisp and on-target. He hasn't bought into the ESPN highlight mentality, either. He can make fancy passes like J-Dub, but often eschews them to avoid turnovers and to ensure that they get where he wants them. Kidd is the best and certainly the most reliable PG in the association. That said... the widely-held belief throughout the 2001-02 season that Kidd was MVP was ludicrous. This view stemmed from the comical belief that he single-handedly lifted New Jersey to playoff status. Never mind that Kittles revived his career, MacCulloch emerged as a bona fide center, and Jefferson/Martin arrived as threats in transition. Kidd's shaky jumper will prevent him from ever being a legit MVP candidate.

Best point guard in the nba, period. He can defend, pass, dribble the ball up the court faster that anyone and he has the best field vision in the league. A weak shooter but I would take him above any other point guard in the league.

Still one of the top point men in the league. He is getting up there in age and is slowing down. Amazing court presence. One of the best play makers in the NBA period.

Best point guard in the league. Has an effect on those who play around him, and no one gets others involved in the offense the way he does. I guess that's what a point guard is supposed to do.

Overrated! Gets more press than K-Mart yet unlike Martin, Kidd can't be counted on in the Finals. Has shown he's in the same catagory as Barkley, Malone, Stockton, Reggie Miller, etc. He's the kind of guy who leaves his balls at home when it comes time to win it all. Was outplayed by Tony Parker (a 20-year-old kid). Will never be in the same boat as Jordan, Bird, Magic, Isiah, Dumars, etc.

Kidd is the new and improved John Stockton. He's a little better passer and more athletic than Stockton ever was. If his career is lengthy he should eventually dethrone Stockton as the best point guard ever. Kidd is one of the few of the lost art of consummate team play and making your teammates better. He's very physical, also and great on both ends of the court. His opencourt ability to drive to the basket is unparalleled by anyone past or present. His only weakness is that he seems to be finding a shooting groove and then he'll go cold for months at a time. Stockton and Magic, on the other hand, finished their careers shooting for a good field goal percentage. If Jason Kidd could shoot the ball for a high percentage consistently, he would be unstoppable but until he does, he will have issues.

Superstar. Triple-double maniac. He is the only reason Nets have won over 25 games, at all. Couldn't shoot a lick, one of the worst jumpers ever, but a great passer. Never had that great big man either. Might have one now in Martin.

Jason kidd is my idol and the one i want to be like. he took a horrible nets team and turned them into eastern conference champs in 1 year. that's incredible! He is the best passer and makes all the people around him better with his unselfishness. and to all you that only look at the fact he hit his wife, your all losers. He has changed his ways and attitude and now is the best point guard in the NBA. He will be coming back next year, you can count on it.

Jason kidd is the best PG is the NBA and that says a lot, he was voted the best point guard in the NBA by the managers of all the teams in the NBA, his all round game is awesome; he helps the team NJ nets with his perfect assists, rebounds and scores when the oppotunity is there. Sure he's made some stupid mistakes but so have so many others. His all round game and leadership on the court is amazing and deserves all the recognition he gets like being on the all-NBA first team. He is a perfect model for all people wit ha passion for the game.

what a joke, how is a guy who doesn't have a jumper number one on a list of best players? I would have given him a 3, but he's a wife beater, and continually complained about Boston during the playoffs last year like a little cry-baby, so he gets a 2.

Personally, I am not a Net fan. I have to say, even, that I thought it was a blatantly horrible move for the Nets to trade such great talent in Marbury to the Suns for Kidd. However, when the Nets played the Knicks on Friday night, I saw how much he can help a team. He is averaging almost a triple double per game. Kidd is a tremendous player that can help the Nets more in that he gets the other players involved in the game more than Marbury.

His spousal abuse problem during the season is a negative stain on his career. If he can keep his temper and continue his on-court magic, I'd say he is the best overall there is today.

the guy has triple doubles pretty often and he's a point guard. its usual when a pg gets a double double from points and assists but not with rebounds and points/assists.

Kidd has become a rotisserie basketaball tour de force - not to mention a top NBA point guard. This guy really fills up a stat sheet - he boards, scores, gets steals, hits the occasional 3, blocks a couple shots, and is becoming a more consistent scorer. I was impressed with how well he was able to come off his injury to make an impact in the playoffs. Can't say I like the new doo though.

Kidd is the best pure point guard in the NBA. He has great size for a point guard and sees the court better than anyone else in the league. And, man, can he pass. His outside shooting continues to improve, but he'll never be a great shooter. But, on the Suns, he isn't counted on to put the ball in the basket. And that suits him just fine.
