Kevin Garnett is a great player. He is a great defender, he can block and rebound, which is key if you want a good team. He can also get inside and shoot up to midrange on offense, which just adds to his explosiveness.
Gris 05/11/2009
Awesome baller. He's grown a lot in the last few years, despite injury. Great to see him play, he started out with some raw talent and has improved upon it since he left the Timberwolves.
zuchinibut 05/08/2009
Garnett has been worth 5 stars for most of his career, but he is starting to slow down. He is still a young guy at just 32 years of age, but he has played in over 1,000 career games. That much wear and tear starts to break a guy down. He is still a great all around player, but he lacks the explosiveness that separates good from great in the game of basketball. I'll rank him as 5 stars for now, but he might quickly drop to 4 if he can't come back strong from his most recent knee injury.
johnnyvallone 03/30/2009
He is a great downlow presence and he can shoot well
hardrockfanati c 07/21/2008
He is a very good players as a whole, but at times plays soft particularly when he was with Minnesota.
CanadaSucks 06/19/2008
3 1/2 stars. . . Awesome physical talent. . .but he has thus far choked in big games. (As of the 2002 season.) He's young, he'll learn. . .When he finally wins a playoff game that matters he goes into the 4 star range.
Rare update- my old review needs to be moved to four stars now that Garnett has a ring. Although he disappeared at times in the playoffs, any casual viewer of basketball has to admit his defensive presence in the NBA finals.

D!LLONMCT 06/10/2008
kg the big ticket!!!!!!!!!!
twansalem 06/03/2008
If the Timberwolves don't do something soon to get some decent talent around Garnett, I think he's going to explode. A player this good, and this competitive just can't stand to lose this much.
UPDATE: Well KG finally has some talent around him, and he's been a man possessed. The Finals start this Thursday, I guess we'll just have to see if KG and the Celtics can outplay Kobe and company. I hope the Celtics can do it, but it doesn't look good.
EASY-EKIEL 06/03/2008
He is one of the most dominat players of all time. When he gets the ball he can do what he wants with it and that shows how great of a player he is
georges11 06/01/2008
franchise player who earned his kudos with the timberwolves. played great on that terrible team. now plays great with a great team.
its halimo so Fuck da rest 05/25/2008
best in the nba extrodinary
Chrisrianna 03/24/2008
Kevin Garnett was a Hall of Famer before he joined the Celtics and now he has a great chance of winning his first NBA Championship, because he made everybody on the Celtics play defense and that has translated into a lot of wins for the C's.
iloveboogers 03/10/2008
hes beast u can tell just by his picture
Mr.Tuner 02/22/2008
i always have liked him- he is a very good player!
badgerfan 12/15/2007
He gives it all every night and dominates night in and night out. he can do everything, shoot, dribble, pass, jump. You name it and KG can do it.
Jeremy00081 09/20/2006
Anyone who doesn't give this guy a perfect score based on his PERFORMANCE doesn't know basketball. Where would a crappy team like the T-wolves be without him?
samjung23 12/29/2005
What an overrated player. He may provide the fantasy stats, but he's a total overblown egomaniac who has delusions of grandeur. The media has trumped him up since day one, and Garnett is frustrated trying to live up to their expectations. The truth is that Garnett isn't really that good, nor has he had the desire to improve his gameplay and learn. Garnett is still as raw as the day he was drafted out of high school, and does not play intelligently. The same can be said of Lebron, who is definitely following the same path to mediocrity. Jermaine O'Neal, on the other hand, is different. While he opted for the draft out of high school, Jermaine has learned how to play intelligently in the NBA. He chooses his shots wisely, has learned to post up well and play as a team. Garnett thinks he can just overpower everyone, and that's why his Timberwolves empire predictably collapsed when Cassell and Spreewell decided to take a break. Garnett likes to believe he works harder than everyone else and deserves to be a champion, but I think he's a whiny blowhard. Take your superstar money and go on a hike, until you learn how to play smart NBA ball and not carry on that high school bull, you can forget living up to your ESPN dreams.
OutsideBlitz 11/25/2005
Garnett has talent, but he would play better if he was on another team. I think the best thing he could have done for his career was get a trade to either the Spurs or the Suns during the 05 off-season.
Supernatural IQ 11/08/2005
I agree with samjung23. Great players who truly care about winning work on their game. Garnett can dunk, and he can do lots of other things well, but he isn't dominating at anything. He's not even really good at any one thing. Guy really really needs to work, although I doubt he will anytime soon.
nnnn 05/02/2005
the best all round player in the league
allstardude1 04/18/2005
This guy is amazing. He rebounds, he's got an okay jumper, he plays phenomenal defense, he can play POINT GUARD with his ballhandling skills.
2521pride 04/16/2005
hey
BBallruler32 03/16/2005
He is a great player. He needs a good supporting cast to win though. This is seen as last year the whole team meshed and Latrell Spreewell was not acting like an ass
chickenlover 03/09/2005
he is the best player thus far in the NBA
indyboi 02/03/2005
One of the best players of all time. Sure pick in the Hall of Fame!!!
eleutheromania c 01/23/2005
The best player in the game right now, and every bit as good as Bird was back in the day (without the clutch shooting and the rings, that is.) Now, if the Wolves could just make a few trades...
magellan 12/17/2004
Plays every game like it's his last. Some think because he gives every ounce of his strength in every game, by the time the playoffs come around, he has nothing left. Interesting story from summer ball in Minnesota - a former Gopher was on fire, as good shooters will sometimes be. Anyway he's dropping three after three over Garnett. Garnett, of course, is playing like its game 7 of the NBA championship. Diving for lose balls, scrambling on D, going after every rebound. Well the guy continues to shoot the lights out, so Garnett takes a swing at him. While I don't advocate swinging at somebody you can't stop, it tells you something about the will to win of Garnett. One of the richest men in America, and he plays every second of every game like feeding his family depends on it. I'd pay to watch KG play any day.
louiethe20th 12/14/2004
Very solid player, but his playoff games last year left alot to be desired.
cb21dachamp 12/13/2004
HE is THE best of ALL time , he's the best on the planet ... if u don't see it u must be blind or something cuz he is the best on the planet... much luv, CB
Nthentherewasd uke 12/11/2004
Love his shot...great ability...easy to say one of the best players in the nba.
jamieol 11/28/2004
Should he be in 50 greatests list??
Chalky 11/07/2004
not much of an nba fan, but kg is fun to watch, and one would have to be an idiot not to realize that kg is the best all-around player in the nba
witakay 09/09/2004
KG is the best player in the nba hands down. He proved it last year and he will prove it again this year when he beats out tim d and the spurs in the western finals.
jewelz 07/29/2004
he don't look as good as jermaine o'neal!!!!Nobody does!!!
TerpInCA 07/17/2004
Not even close
alphonso 06/28/2004
Great talent, sh$tty individual.
califcarlson 06/04/2004
The thing I like about Kevin Garnett is that he can pretty much do anything. If he can refine his entire game to a perfection he would win MVP every year, which wouldn't be fair. He needs some young talent if he's going to win anything though.
His Airness 05/11/2004
Doesn't deserve to be MVP! Jermaine O'neal should have won it!
albina' 05/01/2004
he's ok but practice more on your jump shots..
drayko 02/04/2004
I can't believe he is not at the top of the list. NOONE comes close to his all round play ability. He is dominant every facit of the game, something i cannot say about anyone else in the league.
cktops 12/22/2003
My All-NBA First Team: 1. Jason Kidd 2. Kobe Bryant 3. KEVIN GARNETT 4. Tim Duncan 5. Shaquille O'neal
jamestkirk 09/02/2003
One of the top five players in the NBA currently and will be at the level for a few years to come.
hrd2h8 06/22/2003
I think his situation is similar to A-Rod of MLB. One of the best players in the league, solid top 5, but he took the $$$, which majority of us would, and now plays on an average team at best. I think the only way he elavates his status is by taking a pay-cut so the T-Wolves can bring in another star, either that or he needs to get out of Minnesota.
tricky75 06/01/2003
amazing player. when all is said and done, he will go down as one of the greatest basketball talents EVER. even if he doesn't win a championship. he is the first player of his kind. an athletic 7 footer who can play all positions and can do it all.
gummocatkilla 05/24/2003
A man with passion for the game and a fierce desire to win.
Southga 04/10/2003
Kevin Garnett is the MAN! Enough said!
Synergy 03/31/2003
KG is very versatile. He has the ability to beat anyone in the league one on one, any time of day, except when there's a title on the line!!! Sure, you can make a million shots out in the playground, but that ain't good for nothing. Until he can step up and make the pressure plays in situations where heros arise, he can never be considered great. Nothing personal. I just think a hundred and twenty six million can buy Minnesota more than a choker.
ArcticMarine 02/14/2003
I have to give him 3 stars. He is a good player in the NBA, but not the greatest. He does not have the ability to carry a team to a championship. Maybe in the future because he is still young.
