He is a great player

It amazes me how ignorant some people are about Pierce. Pierce is the most overrated player in the NBA right now. He is shooting only 40% FG so far this season and he never gets double teamed. People only think he's good NOW because he plays with the KG and Ray Allen. Even Rondo is more valuable to the Celtics because he shoots over 50% FG and averages over 7 assists per game.

He seems to have all of the talent required to be one of the league's best players, but somehow he just isn't getting things done. A truly great player should be able to at least get his team to the playoffs on a regular basis, but instead Boston is one of the league's worst teams, in it's weakest division. 

UPDATE: Paul Pierce finally got it done. Yes, he had help, but he was the best player in the finals, winning the Finals MVP. My rating for Pierce has been changed accordingly.

He's not the athlete that Kobe or Lebron is, and is probably not quite as physically overpowering as Lebron.  But Pierce may be the toughest player in the league right now.  He goes to the basket with force and has unbelievable balance on his pull up jumper.  Beyond that, he is incredibly clutch - I've never seen him shrink from a big game - he goes big when it matters.  I'm glad he finally got his ring.

Pierce just turned the ball over two times in a row with 6 min. left in game 3 of NBA Championship. He consistently makes the wrong decision, jacks up terrible shots and just an average defender. Granted he can take his man off the dribble and create his own shots, and that's why everyone views him as a star. He is an above average wing player who can get to the line often to increase his scoring totals...but not a superstar and never has been

the captain is the center of this team

He is a good player even better team mate and a good person. On the court he never loses his cool and playes with a self control that other players cant master one of the greatest players ever. No doubt

he keeps controll

He has been hidden in Boston for the last few years. No doubt about it, he is a great player, but I can't put him at a T-Mac level or KG level. He is not there. The way Boston is playing this year, I may have to reconsider this rating.

Great offensive threat...but obviously not good enough to carry a team by himself.

Paul Pierce is a great all around player, he can score, rebound, play smothering defense and dish the rock. The only thing holding back his game is that the Celtics are a bad team.

I'm not the biggest fan of Pierce's personality, but I have respect for his game. I think he's a little overrated, but he's still very good...most GM's in the league would jump all over the opportunity to obtain him. 3 and a half stars

yo paul pierce is the best hes not that much of a ball hog and if he didnt hog the ball that much the celtics would be nowhere. so ppl stop hatin on him juss because you can't play like him.hes the truth.

I really liked Pierce coming out of college, but whatever has happened to him since he has been in the NBA has not been good. He jacks the ball up without any concern for his team, and not also has a whiny attitude whenever a call goes against him. Celtics might be better off without him in the future.

Paul Pierce is my favourite player! HE IS NOT SELFISH! he takes shots for his team and plays excellent defence. with the return of 'Toine, they're a much better team! GO CELTICS GO!

anyone that doesn't rate this guy 4 or 5 stars hasn't really seen him play. Very few players can match his scoring ability.

Definitely a good player. One of the top twenty players in the league currently.

Scorer, superstar, amazing player. The Truth just makes plays like few can. He drives better than probably any player his height. Not to mention, he is on a two-man team, and the other guy shoots about 35%.

You can't take that Boston team anywhere by yourself. Screw you and your over-inflated ego.

A great competitor. Anyone who says he's a selfish player must not watch him much, because as a die-hard C's fan who watches every game he plays, if he doesn't take a lot of shots, the chances of the Celts winning are pretty low.

can anyone here explain to me why the best player in the eastern conference is ranked number 39 behind jokes like Anfernee Hardaway, Damon Stoudamire, Jason Williams, Sam Cassell and Allan Houston, and just in fron of Theo Ratliff? ABSOULTELY RIDICUOLOUS!! Hmmm, seems to me Sixers, Pistons and Nets fans are a little bitter of him destroying them in the playoffs last year. The refs handed the Nets the series last year because the NBA wanted to see a Nets Lakers matchup in the finals. he's the best fourth quarter player in the game, and deserves to be in the top 10, if not the top 5.

I cant believe that Paul is so low on the list. Very good player, can score 20 points in a quarter if he wanted to.

Two Words: BALL HOG. I mean, have you ever seen him play? He NEVER passes the ball around to his teammates. Once he gets the ball in his hots little hands, he shoots or goes for a lay-up, regardless if anyone else is in a better position to score...what a great guy...

he averaged about 19 points, 2 steals, 3 assists, and 5 rebounds a game. he just got 14 points in his return from being stabbed.
