Wasn't this the "player" who spit on the umpire, and then got some wimpy, post season suspension, whatever that is? Ban him for life. "NO SPITTING ON UMPIRES", comprende'?

 | realitygirl (0) 03/13/2002 | I think Robbie Alomar is the best second baseman ever. I don't know why he decided to spit on an umpire but I don't think that will ruin his chances of going into the Hall of Fame.

 | stooge (0) 07/16/2001 | Roberto Alomar is one of the most atheletic players in baseball. Few have ever been able to field as good as him. He can handle almost anything that comes his way. He has tremendous range, he can go right or left, he can throw from his knees. He can throw, with accuracy, while jumping, when both feet are in the air. And he can hit. He is great with runners in scoring position. He has good speed and is always a threat to steal. You add it all up and Robbie is a sure bet for the Hall of Fame.

 | Munson (8) 10/03/2000 | Alomar is perhaps the most underrated superstar in baseball today. For starters, he is the best defensive second baseman in MLB history. He is incredibly quick leading to tremendous range and has a great arm. In addition, he can flat out hit. His career average is well over .300 and he had an off-year this year hitting around .290 with about 20 homers and 90 RBI. Alomar is also a threat on the basepaths. It seems like he has been in the majors forever, but is only around 32. Unfortunately, Alomar hasn't been respected as a player since the incident when he spit in the umpire's face. Since then, however, he has gotten on friendly terms with the umpire and quietly donated thousands of dollars to fight the disease afflicting that umpire's son. Alomar is a certain, first ballot hall of famer who we are going to miss when his playing days are over.
