At his peak, he was all but unhittable. At the time he wasn't the best closer in the game, he was best in the Galaxy. Now that he's on the down-side of his career, he's simply the best closer in the game.

One of the greatest closers in history. I hate the Yankees so, it pains me to say that.

The surgeon. No nickname is as fitting. I love watching this guy go to work - he makes it look effortless. He is the best in the business, no question.

I hate to say it, but Mariano Rivera is a great pitcher. He has been an integral part of the Yankees' success over the last decade, and is currently their only pitching connection to their championship teams. Who knows how long he will be able to keep closing games for the Yanks, but he will probably go down as the best closer in history.

Best AL closer.

Mariano Rivera is just simply amazing! He is the Yankees best relief pitcher. He stays true to the game itself, and never gives up. He works his talent out there on that mound, he is bound for the Hall

Technically, Rivera is the best Yankee pitcher on the current team. He has found his niche in the bullpen, where he is arguably one of the best closers in all of baseball.

The guy is only human. He is basically automatic as a closer and previously as a set-up man for the Yankees. The known notion is that when Mariano enters the game, it is all but over. I was heartbroken to see the final inning of game 7 of the world series this past year, but I still would trust Rivera in any pressure situation over any closer in baseball history. He has an amazing playoff ERA and is probably the greatest clutch closer in the history of the game. I am extremely proud to have him on my favorite team.

Mariano is the greatest reliever in the history in baseball and when he is gonenobody will ever replace him.

Rivera might not be the greatest closer in baseball history, but noone can deny his outstanding abilities.

There's Mariano Rivera, and then there's everyone else. Since he exploded on the scene in 1996, there is no reliever, and I mean NO RELIEVER, who can hold a candle to Mariano Rivera. For those people who have not seen him play on a day-to-day basis--he's simply the greatest closer of all time. When he enters a game, a collective *sigh* of fear and despair is moaned from the opposing team. The greatest compliment ever given to the man was from Twins Manager Tom Kelly when he said of Rivera: "He's simply on a higher level." As long as the New York Yankees have Mariano Rivera to close out the ninth inning, there is no way they can be defeated at the end of a game. . .there is just NO WAY.

Best closer in baseball history!

Oh is that Mariano coming into the game? Shut the door, turn the lights out, give the uankees another 'W' in the the win column. He is so automatic. Grace defined by a pitcher, nice slow and smooth windup and then whammo - it is like a 100 mph blur coming at you out of nowhere.

The best reliever in baseball. He gets righties and lefties out seemingly without any trouble. Nobody can get a hit off of him.
