The Atlanta Hawks began as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks of the National Basketball League (NBL) in 1946, and joined the NBA in 1949. From there, the franchise became the Milwaukee Hawks, then the St. Louis Hawks, and finally the Atlanta Hawks in 1968. It was as the St. Louis Hawks in 1958 that the franchise won its only NBA championship. The Hawks play their home games at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA.
