 | daedalus (33) 02/07/2006 | At 5th in the AP poll they are overrated and their guard play is going to haunt them in the tournament. However, I think they would more than hold their own in any conference in the country. Morrison is the most versatile scorer college basketball has seen in a while and he has proven it with some of his best games against their toughest opponents. Batista has as good of touch around the basket as anybody and they are also the best free throw shooting team in the nation, which could prove to be crucial in close games (and has already in their latest win against St. Mary's).
They have already beaten Maryland, Michigan State, Virginia and Oklahoma State. Losses to UConn, UW and Memphis, all three of which could make the final four. They have the toughest out of conference schedule in the nation. The whole of the WCC is really bad except for Gonzaga, it matters little how much you win or lose by, but whether you win or lose period.

Gonzaga would not go .500 in the Big East. And because they are so mediocre, I just can't consider Adam Morrison a player of the year candidate**
*original comment* While Morrison and Baptista are legit players, I think Gonzaga is the most overrated team in the country. Their guard play was awful last night. If they can't handle USF's press, what are they going to do when they play Nova or Illinois, or even UAB?
Gonzaga has squeaked by some really bad teams this year, and last night was no exception. My advice: bet against them come tournament time - they won't make it to the Sweet 16.

 | minkey (36) 01/24/2006 | I went to their game vs. USF last night. USF played them tough, staying within 5 points most of the game, and being down only 3 with 30 seconds remaining. It was kind of a David and Goliath matchup, Gonzaga is ranked 7th in the nation, and USF just got amped up for the sold out, televised game. I think Gonzaga's going to get upset in the NCAA tournament - aside from Morrison, they didn't have many answers. They're a quick team but lack size and power.

 | fezzador (3) 01/16/2005 | Consistently underrated basketball team, has the potential to be Top Ten material every year. Few is also an underrated coach, and John Stockton went to GU. Need I say more?

 | zuchinibut (36) 03/11/2003 | They have done an amazing job of building a program in a non major conference. Even with a coaching change, they have played great ball.

 | Munson (7) 03/20/2001 | How do they not go undefeated in their conference? They really can't be considered a Cinderella team anymore (Virginia caught a rough break getting this 12 seed in the first round). People look at them like they are a bunch of overachievers, but if you watch them play, you'll see that they are talented with some really good athletes. Dichow and Cavalry could lead them to their first Final Four.
