Overall Rating:2.63 based on 49 ratings
The New Jersey Nets got their start in 1967 as the New Jersey Americans - one of the the original members of the 11 team ABA. Led by Julius "Dr. J" Erving, the then New York Nets went on to win the ABA title in 1973-74 and 1975-76. In 1976, both the ABA and the Nets were absorbed by the NBA. The New Jersey Nets play their home games at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, NJ. (Add picture)

The Nets actually do really suck now. I googled NETS SUCK just to find a place to vent. I am watching them get trounced by the lowly Kings (another gutted team) and I am disgusted. Granted, RJ's hip is hurt, yet he's still hitting his J's. Carter is geting to be plain OLD. How long can he be he star with no back-up? Kidd also - OLD. When they got rid of KMart, they cut the enforcement out of the team - the heart. Never the same. You need one crazy big guy who will lose his mond once in a while to keep the other team in check. Who'll do that... Collins the Stay Puft Marshmallow Center? I mean really... Even getting rid of uber 6th man Johnson was stupid. He has reamed them ever since leaving. Now Miki Moore is dunking all over them. Pitiful.

I am sick of everything being blamed on Carter. #1 they would not even be there without him. #2 He is all they have offensively, and I saw at least 10 open shots he created in gm 2, that his teammates could not hit. I'm talking WIDE OPEN! He should have had at least 12 assist in that first half. #3 With teammates not hitting shots off those perfect passes he keeps making, Miami can trhow every player at him. GIVE HIM A BREAK! He got 27, 10, and 8 in game 1 and they talk like Jones shut him down. What I see is Carter ABUSING JONES, and teammates not hitting the shots off his penetration. It does not matter though, he can't win. Whatever he does, will be turned into a negative by the media. IN FACT, Carter just hit a beautiful shot and Albert says, Carter with a very quiet 18! Okay, well, the rest of the team has a very quiet NOTHING! Nobody ever thinks, 'the NETS SUCK and Carter is doing all he can.' MJ would struggle too if he kept getting in the lane and had to kick it too JORDAN COLLINS FOR AN 18 footer! Carter just get hated on like McCants, RASHEED, and every other Carolina guy who is nothing but a winner. I've never seen a guy besides Carter, who gets 37 in a game 7, his game winning attempt goes in and out, AND GET BLASTED FOR GOING TO HID GRADUATION! - that he dreamed about his entire life! He was AWESOME in that game 7! He dominated the game, then happened to miss the game winner, and it was all because he fulfilled his mother's wish of graduating at North Carolina. God, people are such jerks! What an idiot, he VALUED HIS EDUCATION. Vince is all they have - period!)))))))) )))))))))UPDATE. ALL HIS FAULT! Vince is only averaging 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assist in the series. And the media wants me to believe VINCE is the reason they're losing? He shouild've had 18 ASSIST IN GAME 3!

Ahhhhh! How the mighty have fallen. Forget Vince Carter. Two years ago, this team was championship calibur. Now with the losses of K-Mart and Harris, this team will be lottery bound for the next several years.

I live in NJ and I can't stand them. Suddenly all these bandwagon fans came out of nowhere. Most of them were either Bulls or Knicks fans when those teams were good.

They still have Kidd and Jefferson. They'll make the playoffs, but won't get far into them.

Sorry had to add to my disgust for the rat as he has now just tossed Kerry Kittles to the Clippers for another draft pick.....great....which conference do the Nets play in next season the Big East or the ACC????.................If Bruce Ratner were on fire, I would toss on more gasoline. What a scumbag. Buys a team so he can build himself a pretty building and tramples on the tortured souls that have rooted for the Nets and endured hell to finally get to have some pride in a team that was to be championship contenders for years to come. Rod Thorn should trade Kidd, let RJ go and quit so Ratner can run his team over to Brooklyn and his new, empty building. Lets go Bobcats.

Below is the comment I had left prior and had rated them a 5. I wouldn't spit on Bruce Ratner if he was on fire. He has no sense of commitment or obligation to his community. He is blinded by spreadsheets and short term bills. Take your pathetic team to Brooklyn! You're no longer wanted in Jersey. I loved this team through all the crappy years and now finally when we are right on the brink of something large they have a yardsale and backup the trucks. I hope you rot in hell Ratner! ************************************ Love my Nets! They need to sign Kenyon and get rid of Kittles; sign another shooting guard. Im going to be devastated if they move to Brooklyn and that's what seems is going to happen after years of putting up with all the poor lousy seasons- they finally put together some strong teams and they're leaving... If they don't sign Martin and start a $#@$# yardsale instead of staying competitive I will rescore them a 1 star but as of now they came one basket from putting away the team that beat the best of the West- they're damn good.

Play as a team ! *one of the few* Fun to watch *when actual on TV vs the normal LA/NY/SAN A ones* Been following them for 30 years .. since Dr. J ! Go Nets ... 2004 will be the year ! Think Mo will be a great addition now that Deke is gone finally !

This is a fun team to watch, but the foundation is shaky. If anything happens to Kidd, the whole party comes crashing down. Mourning was smart move for the money, but you have to wonder if he can still play ball. Byron Scott may be this team's weakest link and in spite of the media coverup, it's obvious his players agree. As much good as Thorn has done in the front office, you have to wonder what he was thinking by picking up Dikembe at $18 million/year. That's bad people policy. No wonder Martin wants a max contract.

With the Celtics looking down, I hope they go all the way this year. Well, anybody except the Mavericks or Lakers.
