The Seattle Supersonics joined the NBA in 1967 with the Houston Rockets as part of a two team expansion. Led by Jack Sikma, the franchise reached the NBA finals in 1978 and won the NBA title in 1979. The Sonics again reached the finals in 1996 behind the play of Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp, only to be defeated by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. The Sonics play their home games at the Key Arena in Seattle, WA. (Add picture)

The Sonics have a nice core of young talent in Durant, Wilkens, and Green, but, absent any type of blockbuster deal, they will have been in OK City (no pun intended) for several years before they become a real contender.

Before the season, I had my doubts. But this team is for real. With the likes of Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis, Antonio Daniels, this Sonics squad is the only team to win a game @ San Antonio. The way they're playing, they could win a championship.
