Maverick. Never missed an episode if I could help it. Highly recommended for fans of the American Western. James Garner was perfect as Bret Maverick.

It was fun watching the reruns in the 60's

When Bret and Bart were on together, that was the best. The parodies of Gunsmoke, Bonanza and other shows were fantastic.

The begining of the term Appointment Television... we never missed it.

Maverick Was A Class Act As Far As TV Westerns Go..It Had Alot of Comedy And That is One Thing That TV Westerns Didn't Have Back Then! Also, They Rotated The Scripts Because James Gardner Quit For A Short Time!

I real good show. James Garner played a man who was not the typical hero, which made the shopw interesting and fun.

The key to the series is an analysis of the human condition and justice. We have laws to protect the colective interest partly under the assumption that people can not protect them themselves. Since people are in fact individual and act individually they often find their legal protections at odds with their interests. Someone who has been robbed may go to a court to have the theif tried by a judge. A prosecutor will seek jail time for a criminal. Someone in jail can not work. A victim would rather have their property back. A jilted woman would prefer child support over jailing someone for seduction. In an actual court situation there are plea bargains. In Maverick the hero often interceeds to get the victims what they need. The criminal sometimes but not always him gets off. The malefactor does not keep all their ill gotten gains. A negociated settlement brings better results outside of court than enforcement of law.

by far the best western ever made. anyone voting against it is an idiot. also, gunsmoke and bonanza stink.

I really don't think that anyone liked this show, and I think I know why. There was never any character development in the cast. They would introduce us to these characters, and then they would drop them from the scripts, and then show up somewhere really goofy. That's what messed up the show.

Pretty good western, combining humour and the obligatory shoot out. Not as good as Bonanza.

The all time best television show and I don't like westerns.

The best of the 50s/60s tv cowboys. By far. If your a cowboy fan over a certain age then this is the show for you. The young ones like to see lots of blood and gore, this show just gives you a good leading cast with dodgey stories and all in black and white for your entertainment at home. I have put my money where my mouth is and bought some maverick tapes from the States as they are not available here in the Uk. As my pappy would say--"put up or shut up" Well I put up and know i will shut up!------by by

Truly the greatest, most original series in the annals of television. It's a shame that all the original episodes are not being shown on a consistent basis on a network such as TVLAND.

Maverick was the only show to ever win an Emmy for Best Western. The Maverick brothers played the anti-hero with wit and humor and were probably among the first tv cowboys who preferred kissing a beautiful woman instead of their horse. The best episodes are the ones which star both brothers.

One of the best anti-westerns made for TV. The humor and satire were before its time. Both Garner and Kelly were wonderful in the shows they did together. Jack Kelly was the better drama actor while Garner's wit brought a chemistry between the two men.

this is the best western ever made with a wry sense of humor bthat makes fun of other westerns. The best shows feature James Garner. It is one of the most underrated shows of all time!
