Ponderous, portentious and pretentious. Use one of the feathers to tickle the back of your throat and you can bring up this load of garbage.

It's a movie about a man trying to prove himself by going to war alone and save his friends in the process. It would be rather difficult to potray a war as happy time.

One of the most boring, dry, and joyless movies of our time.

I thought this movie could have had a lot of potential but somehow it fell flat. There were boring parts and then alternating gory parts. Luckily the marvelous Kate Hudson was in it and Heath Ledger did a fair job.

For me, this movie was a study in contrasts and I had a hard time determining whether I should recommend it or not. I liked the characters and I thought Heath Ledger's performance was notable, and the plot and story line were interesting, but the editing made the movie a confused mess. There were a couple of scenes that were cut away from abruptly leaving the viewer somewhat confused, and there was also one scene during a chase that I noticed some shots were recycled. The plot, however, was an interesting morality play. In summary, I chose to rate it a 3 - rent it if you are kinda bored. Glad I didn't see it at the theater.
