Imagine indeed. Worth a 5star for one song -- the rest is bonus. Also, one of my favourite WKRP in Cincinatti episodes.

I can't stand any of Lennon's solo efforts except for some stuff from Plastic Ono Band. Some burned out rich hippie at the piano trying to tell us all to throw away all of our material possessions and get enlightened. Right. Sure, John. Yep. I just can't get into any of it. His last album Double Fantasy was absolutely terrible as well. Slow, tedious drivel about his relationship with Yoko shows a complete contempt for his audience and just doesn't rock. Beatles fans should have been so much more discriminating after the break up. 99.9% of the solo material was crap, period.

Good, though flawed solo album from '71. Some weak tracks, but the bitter tunes are the best if you can get past his anger and cynicism, and political rants ( or insights, depending on your views): the old timey "Crippled Inside," the McCartney bashing "How Do You Sleep?" and the venomous politically charged "Gimme Some Truth," which may have inspired Christopher Guest's hilarious National Lampoon parody of Lennon: "Magical Misery Tour." The title track and the sad ballad "Jealous Guy," which was later covered by Bryan Ferry, are the best known cuts. Members of the Moody Blues and Badfinger, George Harrison, and legendary sax player King Curtis contribute to this fine, but not spectacular album.

John Lennon was no Communist. Did he ever do or give a penny to the needy? No. Paul is the charitable one. Lennon and Yoko were fakes and everything they did was for the camera. Imagine no possessions - and this from a couple of millionaires. Communists? You are joking of course! If he had been a genuine caring person I could have had some respect for him, but for all his sermonising, and for all that he may once have been a decent bloke, he had become a humourless, dour phony in his later, Yoko years. Poor sad sap. He could have been so much more.

Its a beautiful album. I suggest people really give it a good listen and see why its as praised and lauded as it is. Masterpiece.

Marxist drivel. The title song is yet another misconstrued 'classic' that gets shoved down our throats any time something bad happens within the mass populace. Do yourself a favor. "Imagine" John Lennon never met Yoko, and "imagine" how much better the Beatles were because of Paul's pop craftsmanship, not because of John's depth.

The song still remains poignant and meaningful today as it did during the Vietnam War times, good album, too.
