Buck Rogers in the 25th Century 1

With Battlestar Galactica, a contender for worst sci-fi ever put on TV.

Star Trek fans should be glad this garbage got aired, since it gives them something to point to and say "At least my favourite show isn't as bad as that"

Three stars because my son loved it when he was little. I could watch Erin Grey.

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century 2

I'd like to give "Buck Rogers In The 25th Century" a higher rating, but the series simply doesn't hold up well against the stronger shows on this list. Gil Gerard (Rogers) was game enough, when he could keep is weight down, and Erin Gray (Wilma Deering) was striking and statuesque to this then very young man, but the special effects were bad even for the day (especially when compared to, say, its contemporary "Battlestar Galactica") and the plots unimaginative for a science-fiction series.

Poorly written, horribly acted, less-than-special effects, but caused a few of my first nocturnal emmissions! Man, that princess. . .unbelievable. . .where is she? Porn was robbed of some real talent. . .

Great blend of humor and science fiction at a time when sci-fi wasn't all that common.

They would have been better served to have Princess Ardella mud wrestle Erin Gray for contention for queen of the universe with other jiggle celebrites rotating on a weekly basis to win the title maybe add different jello flavors for variety.Buck was like a more of a robot than that stupid cheesy thing that stuttered.I wish this Buck Rogers got lost in space.

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century 3

Paid money to see the hour-and-a-half theatrical release back in the 70s, all prepared for a visual treat along the lines of Frank Frazetta's pulp renditions. What I got was.....let's just say, SOMEWHAT disappointed. Shortly after, the television series came out, and I resigned myself to stick with it (out of hope that it'd get better, and for lack of anything else in the genre). Three colon-tightening seasons later, I'd had enough. Gil Gerard almost made a good Buck (but the more his weight fluctuated, the more often you'd see his body double making those spinning jump kicks in the fight scenes), but the REAL reason guys watched was to see how they were able to pour Erin Gray into those Spandex suits. The first two seasons were laughably-passable formula (with cameos by Gary Coleman, Buster Crabbe and such); the last season (the "Searcher" ruse, Thom Christopher's verbally-halting Hawk, Twiki's estrogen-drenched voice change, Wilfred Hyde-White's doddering doctor, Wilma's switch from kick-butt officer to poorly-coordinated stewardess) was excrementally fetid. The whole thing is now out on discs, but I don't know if I'll be able to fork over $80.00 (!) for it (unless there's a knife at my throat). Maybe the Sci-Fi Channel re-runs are a safer option for an idea that needed more attention towards everything.

I second Jadewood's comments on Erin Gray. I also thought that Pamela Hensley, who played Princess Ardela, was a hot mama. Even though I was 9 or 10 when that show was on, they were the only 2 reasons to watch.

Erin Gray in her tight suits were worth the whole show. The show is very average even for scifi in the 70's. Linda Gray is still a hot lady, so check her out on the web or TV.

wow this brings back memories. between star wars and the empire strikes back this show along with battlestar galactica filled the in gap for sci-fi crazy kids like myself who couldn't get enough. although not as good as their big screen cousins shows like buck rodgers were certainly enjoyable and entertaining. for t.v. this was pretty good. very hard to find on re runs today.

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century 5

Great TV sci-fi for it's time... alot of fun. Gil Gerard was a good choice for the swashbuckling transplanted hero, and Erin Gray was perfect as the beautiful but serious-minded Lt. Wilma Deering, and who could forget Buck's lovable robot buddy, Twiki (voiced by Mel Blanc)?! The pilot episode was theatrically released, and even though the special effects are cheezy by today's standards (as are most past shows), the humor and comic book style shine through. By the second season, however, the show was reformatted and took on more of a 'Star Trek' approach, but it was still tops for a 10 yr.old! Good underrated sci-fi late 70's show, much more interesting (because of character development) than 'Battlestar Galactica'.
