I used to really like his books. But i found i've been so disappointed with his last ones.I bought one called Quickie which he co wrote a few weeks ago.It was just so predicable,no twists and nothing original.I was sorry i wasted my money on it.

You have seen James Patterson's Alex Cross character in moview such as Along came spider and kiss the girls. They were good movies but the books are definitely better. As much as I love Morgan Freeman, I think he is too old to play Alex Cross though. What I can gather from the book, Alex is quite bit younger. In the book he is described as "very handsome" and he looks like "young Mohamed Ali"

Patterson is great although I could definitely live without the series about the angel children.

I like about 50% of his books, I do like Alex Cross books but was disapointed in the last couple, seemed too much like formula books rather than true murder mysteries. The 'sex' part of the books is just not interesting IMO. Just for those reasons, I will now buy his books on ebay or at the 2nd hand book store, as they are not as good as they once were and not worth paying full price for anymore.

Is there something about the name Patterson which means the bearer of same can't write?

This author is fantastic if you like details. When you walk into a murder scene with Patterson, you can see everything. He can describe what he is seeing very well. Sometimes the gore is a little too much, but you expect it from Patterson.

I disagree with the opinion that he is over-rated. He may have received more publicity than other writers but that does not lessen his talent. His Alex Cross series is excellent.

I love James Patterson's books. Yes, a lot of them are similar, but with the Alex Cross series... his job is to find out who dunnit, so of course there will be similarities. If you like suspense/thrillers, Patterson's work will please you greatly.

I love James Patterson's books, I especially like the Alex Cross series. I can hardly wait for his new books to come out, and am only disappointed that I have to wait nearly a year between new books.

terrible writing, wooden characters, predictable if meandering plots

atrocious dialogue mixed with inane storylines...one of the worst out there!

I think he very OVER RATED!! I found he wrote like he was talking down to stupid children. I was very disappointed. His relative Richard North Patterson is far better.

I am only 13 but I LOVE Patterson's books. I am currently reading first to die and it is a nailbiter. I have read every single one of his books except season of the machete. I want to read that one and my favorite character is Alex Cross and his partner. They are so COOL!!!
