Drugstore trash. A writer so bad as to be horrific.

John Grisham - He's a GREAT writer and he's also a truly dedicated justice-seeking attorney. His first non-fiction book "The Innocent Man" is brilliant, carefully researched and it tears a scab off of something dark and ugly within our society. If you haven't read it yet, then I won't ruin it for you, but there's a bit of a preview here on this website (which I built) that is actually mentioned within the pages of the book: WardAndFontenot.Com

I think it was The Last Juror where at the end of the story Grisham has a disclaimer to readers: something about he knows he is not totally legally correct in his books but they are books so don't bother to contact him telling him it is wrong. It came across totally snobbish and since he is a lawyer it just hit me all wrong, like the big city lawyer snob mentality. yuck!

I enjoy all his books, and like some of the ones recently which are rather different than his normal books.

I don't care if this guy is a distant cousin of mine, his books suck and he's one of the lamest mystery writers ever. Predictable plots, cartoonish characters, a virtual absence of style, flat writing that's little more than typing. I read two of his early books and found them to be a total waste of time. I can only imagine that his later crap is even worse, more formulaic, as he's become nothing more than your typical franchise author, churning out second rate crap for third rate minds to drool over.

I haven't read any of his books for a while, after I noticed that The Client was written like a screenplay. Maybe he's gone back to being a "pure" writer like he was when The Firm was written.

His early books, A Time to Kill, The Firm, etc. were enjoyable. Grisham's more current stuff isn't as good. They don't seem to have the same passion.

Up until the last two or three years I would have given Mr Grisham a rating of GREAT, but I find that his last few books just don't have what the first few had. I COULD put down the last book of his I read.

ok writer for people who don't really care about books or reading. usually appeals to those who want to be in on whatever everyone else is. would probably be better served writing screenplays but then he couldnt have his ponderously clueless face wrapped in bad sweaters on the backs on his novels

I think John Grisham is the best author of our time. He has a wonderful grasp of the legal thriller and has also branched out by writing excellent novels such as 'A Painted House' and 'Skipping Christmas.' Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

I haven't read much John Grisham, but I like what I've seen. "The Rainmaker" was a very intriguing, well-written book, and the character Deck Shifflet was just too lovable (little guy who never passed the bar and chases ambulances)! If you have read "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and are looking for a slightly similar one, you can check out "The Client" and I guarantee your amazement. John Grisham has a way of putting things into words, and his books are very good page-turners. My favorite author? No. But definitely in the top 10. Take care, everyone!

I've always been a very demanding reader. I live in Central Europe and have learned English since my childhood. Currently I am a teacher of English as a seconf Language. I have already read tons of books in English, but I have remained loyal to John Grisham only...He definitely is a master in his art. Everytime I pick up another book by him I think there will be nothing that might surprise me this time...but somehow it have never occured ;-) I admire his work...WE WANT MORE! ;-)

I'm a 17 year old Canadian girl that has every single one of John Grisham's books, and I have read them about 6 times each. They always get better and better and I can never put them down. In my English class we were asked to pick an author and give an 80 minute speech on him/her. Of course, I picked Mr. Grisham, and I'm sure everyone will be captivated and want to go out and buy his books right away!

As a true Southern girl, I have grown up with quite a bit of experience in the subject matter that John chose to write about in, A Time to Kill, and The Chamber. I was on the edge of my seat throughout both books. I have since, read all of the books and have loved every one. I have been asked to write a research paper on my favorite author, and was more than happy to nominate John Grisham as my subject matter. Thanks for making my papers more interesting. Keep writing!. John Grishan, on innumerable occasions, has had me on the edge of my seat. However, his latest books, from "The Partner" onward, have been disappointingly predicable and slow moving. I truely believe that Grisham hit is peak at "The Chamber" and has never written as well since. "A Time To Kill" still brings shivers to my spine.

John Grisham is my absolute favorite author- the only one I read! I don't agree with the comment about The Bretheren. Although the first part was hard to follow, if you are a true Grisham reader you will have no problem understanding it. He doesn't write books people can't understand or follow.

I am a big fan of Grisham's; however, his latest "The Brethre" stills sits on my night stand...and several other readers agree with me; it is so confusing to keep up with, the characters are so boring - plus no spice to the storyline at all. What happened to John? His others books are all a 5 star rating in my boo,.

I love his books. Even with all the legalese, they make good reading. More importantly, John Grisham is a genuinely "good guy". He gives to his community without expecting anything back and does not flaunt his wealth. Hats off to him and all he does.

Although Grisham is undoubtedly a success and delivers a product required by the mass market, one has to ask yourself what has happened to suspense and imagination. Has decades of TV finally taken its toll on humanity, depriving us of imagination and creativety? A book where the entire plot is not obvious within the first 20 pages would certainly add to the greater public's imagination and creative thoughts.
