Baldacci has "again" produced a novel really enjoyable to read. I had a hard time putting it down. The development of the characters and the continuous action keeps the readers attention and there never is a dull moment.

David Baldacci is one of my two favorite authors but I walked away from Hour Game a bit disappointed. Baldacci is usually one of the best at character development, but I felt he bit off more than he could chew on this one. There were just too many characters in Hour Game to keep them straight. Otherwise, the story was compelling and each new twist kept you turning the pages.

This was a phenomenal read! Well thought out story, believable characters, a lot of twists and turns, and action packed. A must read!

As the clever title suggests, this is the first Baldacci book that I have read. As a sometime purveyor of whodunit lit, I have a decent catalog of works to compare this with and I'd put this in about the middle of the pack. It has moderately developed characters, an interesting if shifting story (the reader- or at list this reader- has the feeling that Baldacci decided to take the book in a different direction about half-way through, and an adequate ending. Set in Virginia, it allows for use of the region to dip into a bit of Civil War history as well as for the use of a little of the conflict seen when a conservative and rural southern state becomes a modern and soulless regionless state. Well, perhaps it doesn't explore this all that much, but a touch of it is there. Like any modern serial killer story, it has a good bit of psychoanalysis going on, nothing that gives the reader anything beyond superficial titillation, however. There is also a pseudo ending, then another, then sort of another, which I found needlessly complex, and much of the book's action takes place in ending 2 and most of the explanation in ending 3. I'm going to give DB another try since this was a passable book, and based on many of the other reviews here it sounds as though he can do a lot better. And I disagree a bit with the main Amazon review, while I found a lot of the secondary characters pretty well developed I did not find the protagonists to be all that fleshed out. In sum, if like me you are a DB neophyte, you probably want to look at starting somewhere else. Not that this was bad, but it sounds like he has better stuff out there to pick from.

This was a used book that arrived promptly and was exactly as described. Can't ask for more than that.
