Parker's second western novel reprises the characters of Hitch and Cole, who are so similar to Hawk and Spenser of his primary detective series there is little to choose between them. For all that its a decent read, and a pretty good story, written in Parker's trademark dialogue heavy style. While he is not the master of dialogue that George V. Higgins was, he's pretty good, and worth reading. For my money, Parker's crime fiction is better, but this won't waste your time. And note to admin: This should be under Westerns, not Mysteries and Thrillers.

Incredibly unoriginal. The two-to-three-page chapters seem indicative of a writing style with few ideas. One thinks of the richness of Shane, or the character studies in The Unforgiven, and one wonders why a successful writer would spend time regurgitating this vapid thing. I used to enjoy Robert Parker's detective novels and I picked this up out of interest in what he can add to the western genre. Evidentially, not much. I'm left with the impression that writing is just a nervous habit--quality, originality or complexity are beside the point. Maybe his publisher has a mortgage to pay and kids to put through school and made him do it.

If you enjoyed "Appaloosa" by Robert B. Parker(which I did), then you will no doubt enjoy "Resolution". Virgil, and Everett are back, in a new town, and a whole new set of problems. I love the way Mr. Parker can paint a picture with his words. I could taste the dust in my mouth as I read this, and I could feel the kick of the guns. Yes, Robert B. Parker is that good. I can't wait to read the third installment of this series. I sure hope Mr. Parker gives us more of these characters we have come to know and love. If you like westerns,or just a good read in general, then this is a real winner. Happy Reading!

It was typical Parker, but I like westerns, and this was a fast, entertaining read, but probably won't make a film project.

I read Appaloosa because I had heard there was a film out. And now I just zipped through Resolution. I really love the tone of the books. And the characters are great also.

parker takes his cynical Spencer and Hawk buddy theme out west a regretfully fast read...I want more westerns from Robert went back to Gunman's Rhapsody an early western by Parker but these new characters are great buddies to watch...but don't sit down with them for a drink...they attract bullets
