I have been wanting to pick up a Cornwell book for a while now. I decided to start with the first book of the series and if I liked it I would go from there. Would it be to obvious to say that I will certainly be reading more Scarpetta novels? This book will get your attention very quickly and with great characters and an author that knows her subject it will keep your attention throughout. I really enjoyed the love/hate relationship between Scarpetta and Marino. One minute they are on the same page and the next they are not even reading the same book. It is lots of fun. My favorite part of this book; however is the detail that Cornwell uses, as Scarpetta is learning about the murders, the reader is too . If you enjoy reading about who did it, how they did it and why they did it then this book is for you. I highly recommend this novel Grade: A

Postmortem, in this novel four women are found dead and Dr. Kay Scarpetta's job is cut out for her. These murder's are violent and horrible. This book is awsome and hard to put down, so get what you need to get done and sit down and prop your feet up and start reading. It is really hard to put down, Kay Scarpetta will pull you into a world of forensic science trying to find this serial killer. This lady knows her business and won't stop until she gets result's!

I really like Patricia Cornwell's writing and enjoyed this book. I'm attempting to read everything she's written. This was one of her first works. I started by reading her later works. It is great to see the growth in her style over the years. Postmortem was a great read. It was interesting to read the background on characters that I've come to know. This book answered a number of questions I had about their past.

I just read this book for the first time. This was a series that I just never got around to reading, so I figured I'd start with the first book. This certainly has an early 90s feel to it, which is not a bad thing. The descriptions of the computer database system in the Medical Examiner's office is pretty fun to read, if you remember the time when DOS was the main operating system. I'm aware that many of these characters will develop throughout the series, and that's fine with me--they're interesting characters, especially Sergent Marino. This is a suspense novel, not a mystery. I don't want to give too much away here, but if you think you'll be able to "solve" this one half way through it, you won't, at least not from any clues in the novel.

I paid full price for this book which was the most expensive copy listed on Amazon. No where did it mention that it was coming without a dust jacket. Most of the others specifically mentioned that they did not have a dust jacket. I feel very strongly that I was misled into paying more money for something than what I had too considering it was not what I wanted.
