Excellent as usual Clive Cussler is a great writer. Can't put his books down. Great fun and wonderful adventure. Can't wait for Grandson to get old enough to share his books with.

I devour Clive Cussler books. I read this in 3 days, and would have stayed up all night to finish it but sleep overcame me. I loved the new characters. They each had skills that had been finely honed through years of practice and study, and they balanced each other out. Every Clive Cussler novel is a geography lesson as well as a riveting plot. I get just as much out of his excellent description of the locales and the features of the landscape as the actions of the protagonists and antagonists. Kudos to Clive and Grant for a great read! One of Cussler's great reads. Held your attention and made me want to keep reading instead of putting it down at reasonable hour.

I have read all of Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt series, the Kurt Austen series and a couple of his other books. They all were an enjoyable read. This latest book, Spartan Gold, is awful. I am sorry I spent money to buy it. The two main characters are stilted, have boring conversations and seem to want to be a comedy act. The story was predictable. I will not buy any more of the Fargo series.

I have read all of Cussler's books, and Spartan Gold is nothing less than a total disappointment. Each chapter is merely a new country for the rich adventurous couple to visit at first class, and all the while ducking bullets, riding in old submarines in caves, and other so-over-the-top-it's-not-entertaining antics. It is the only Cussler book thus far I don't want to finish after being two-thirds through. If no stars was an option, it would be mine. Maybe next time!
