School Days (Robert B. Parker) 3

A fan of Robert B Parker's Spencer books will definitely want to read School Days. There is some of the normal banter and a decently evolved murder mystery to unravel, but I didn't feel any excitement. After reading about 30 of these novels, Parker may have hit a barrier in the road. Still somewhat enjoyable, this story just doesn't invoke the intense yearnings to get back to the story that others have. I wouldn't miss it, but I wouldn't put it on my priority list either.

I am a long time fan of Spenser novels. Everyone needs a hero and Spenser is a pretty good example. It is a shame that film versions diminish the character. The book arrived promptly in good condition.

School Days (Robert B. Parker) 1

I have not listened the audiobook yet. So my rating refers just to its price.
I want to caution other potential buyers since Amazon charged me 21.86, and when the product arrived I found a label on it saying "Now only $14.99$.

School Days (Robert B. Parker) 4

Robert B. Parker's "School Days" was a quick read, and my first for the "Spenser" series. As always, I enjoyed Mr. Parker's descriptions of Boston and the surrounding areas, being familiar with most of them.

I felt reading this book that Mr. Parker enjoyed writing it. The underlying story was interesting, as a well-to-do grandmother hires Spenser to investigate the case of her grandson, charged with the murder of several people in a school. All the evidence points to this young defendant and Spenser is determined to know why. Eventually, Parker introduces another interesting and I think commendable twist, which, as always in my reviews, I will not give away.

I would definitely recommend this book.
