Wonderful author. I like the Liveship Traders books best, but it is hard to choose. The characters are very well written and they develop a lot over the course of the books. The language is great, and the plots really well crafted. I can't recommend her highly enough.

I've read the tawny man series first because I didn't know about the Farseer trilogy and it's not in the library. Anyway. The characters in these books are very real and I really cared about what happened to them. Maybe a bit too real because Fitz got really annoying in the end. Fool's Fate left me with a vague feeling of dissatisfaction. I wish he had have talked with the Fool properly and accepted all his resposibilities seiously and not been a stupid idiot the whole way through the trilogy. Maybe he acted like a real man and not a formula hero but the events that happened to him seemed to always show his annoying side and didn't give him a chance to not be annoying. I think they're well written but could be richer. I guess I should read the first trilogy before saying this but his relationship with the Fool seemed to be all on the surface and I could see nothing really there except a bit in the first book when they are talking in his cabin. They're always arguing/not talking to each other/Fitz doesn't understand. Also there should be some sort of warning in the front that it's not a trilogy on its own and the Farseer trilogy should be read first. The first third of the forst book was really confusing trying to piece together what Fitz was saying. It's also really annoying when authors recount what happened in an earlier book and waste pages when they could just tell people to read the other book first.

This is as good as fantasy gets. And it's pretty damn good.

Please hurry up and finish writing the last book of the Tawny Man series, Robin. You have done it again, your books are GREAT!

Robin Hobb's Farseer and Liveship Trilogies were unlike anything I have ever read. She truly has an amazing and beautiful mind. I have also read books 1&2 of the Tawny Man. I am counting down the days until book 3 comes out. Yes, I do have a life, her books are just that good!!

I read this series after seeing it recommended on an anti-Robert Jordan website. I've read the assassin series, liveship series and the first 2 of the tawny man series. Robin Hobb deserves 5 out of 5 stars since she writes so well. Her characters are so real. The plotlines are believable. If you decide to read any Hobb trilogies you have to read ALL of the books in the trilogy, before judging them. This is because the stories are written in first person, so things may happen that you don't understand or misunderstand because the narrator was still a child. Hobb's characters are addictive. I love Fitz, the Fool, Kettricken, Brashen, Etta, Reyn and Paragon!

Absolutely a big fan of the farseers! Even more thrilled to find out that it more or less continues in the Liveship series! Excellent work...Do not hink my girlfriend will like the idea of me reading all through the night once again though

Not your run of the mill fantasy writer. Creates characters that hold your attention and I found myself really caring about what happened to them. Both the Farseer trilogy and the Liveship trilogy well worth reading

This was slightly different from normal fantasy books (farseer trilogy), which I really enjoyed, and the ending was quite sad. Its another one of those books you wished would continue. And hurray, Robin hobb is writing a another trilogy which continues 15 years after the farseer one, and Fitz's is back. I am looking very forward to it. I highly recommend the farseer trilogy of Robin hobbs.

I enjoyed the Farseer and the Liveship series immensely. I am glad that I had read the Liveship books first though, as I found the Assassin books a bit hard going at times. The third book was too long as it kept going back over the last 2, and stretched out. Nonetheless I missed the characters as if they were good friends when I finished the books. Can't wait to see what her next ones will be. In the meantime I might manage to get some housework done (finally)

I loved the Liveship Traders Trilogy!!! I have never read a book where I have become so attached to the characters...especially female characters! Even the villains captivated me! I loved to hate them. The Farseer Trilogy, however, seems to lack that 'spice'. Too many obstacles, and not enough triumphs (even small personal ones would have been nice!) But I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

I finished the Farseer Trilogy quite disappointed in Robin Hobb. Apparently, she can't write herself a good ending and heads for formulaic. I recommend reading Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin, and the first half of Assassin's Quest and stopping there. She didn't have to wrap everything up in so tight and neat a package. She could have done much better. This is what I said before: "Now THIS is a good author! Assassin's Apprentice had me hooked from the beginning; now I'm on Assassin's Quest and looking forward to the Liveship Traders Trilogy." I was very wrong.

Robin hobb is an incredible author second only to OSC. although whe is not really seconda at all, it's just that osc's books have affected me more b/c there are more of them, however robin hobb is oneo f the very few author's for whom i will go to great lengths to secure a hardcover of her works.

Along Weiss and Hickman my favorite ateur. her books are great, the character building is unbelievable and the stories are excellent. I also like the connection between the first trilogy The Farseer and the new trilogy The Liveship Traders. A must for every fantasy lover. I hope the last (third) book of the Liveship traders trilogy will be arriving soon in Holland.

Robin Hobb is a very different sort of fantasy author. She is not one for quest for great magical item stories like some others. Her characters face much more personal challenges. Hobb is a master of creating characters to whom the reader becomes strongly attached.
