I loved this book, and I love the whole series even more. I now consider the Mercy Thompson books to tie with Twilight and Black Dagger Brotherhood for my favorites. I am so glad I found this author and totally recommend this to anyone who is a fantasy/supernatural/vampire/werewolf/romance fan. Since this is the first book in the series there is a lot of set up to it and the books following it get even better and more action-packed.

Somewhat interesting story about a shapeshifting human and her werewolf friends. Sometimes difficult to follow. I'm not sure I completely understand the conflict or the resolution. . . The book was somewhat entertaining and had a few twists. At this time, I don't think I will want to read the next 3 books in the series.

Mercy Thompson is a wonderful and addictive character, she is a tough, head-strong, don't need no mans help woman, you'll fall in love with her as soon as you open the book. All of Briggs characters are well developed, realistic and you're totally going to fall in love with them. Even though there is a little bit of natural sexual tension, this is not a romance novel. So if you are looking for a book with a lot of actions in the supernatural world, a world were vampires, brownies, and werewolves live amongst us, then this is the book for you.

wishing there had been a little more 'romance' to it but otherwise, I like the story line...cant wait to get the rest of the series

I enjoyed the book but wasn't blown away by it. I've already read the short story "Alpha and Omega" and "Cry Wolf" so I was a bit familiar with the plot. However, I gave it 4 stars because I found the mystery revolving around the plot to be a bit confusing. Aside from that, I really enjoy the characters, especially Mercy. She's tough and strong but yet still sensitive and vulnerable. The rest of the characters were also nicely balanced. The plot, characters and action were all well written and the story moved through it all effortlessly. There are hints of romance in the book but is not the main focus of the story, although it feels like that story arc will come into its own further down the line.
