This is the most disturbed writer around today. He must be off his medications, because no sane person would believe the tripe he has written. Save you money. This is a pathetic excuse for fiction!

This was four great stories set in the Ender Universe. One of them is the original short story of Ender's Game (before turned into a novel) that appeared in Analog Magazine. It is the same story as the novel only the stories of Peter and Valentine and some of the other games are left out. If given the choice between the novel and the short story, I'd suggest the novel. But I've read the short story a number of times when I just want a quick jaunt into the Ender story (I've read the short story about four times and the novel about six times... one of my favorites). Two of the stories revolve around Ender's father, one of them being how he originally met Colonel Graff (it wasn't when he picked up Ender) and also how he met Ender's mother. Both of them add a lot more depth to Ender's parents and I think helped pave the way to a lot of the story in "Ender in Exile", Orson Scott Card's latest Ender Book (I'm currently still reading it). The last story is how Ender met Jane. That would be significant in itself but it seemed to also show how Ender first picked up the "job" Speaker for the Dead. In this story he not only attends his first speaking but he also performs his first speaking. All four stories are great and add a little bit more depth and background so many of the characters from the Ender Universe. If you loved the Ender books (more than Ender's Game) than I highly suggest you pick this up... you won't be disappointed.

This book has five stories in it, and really four of them are the reason to get this stack of short stories. he brief description explains more than I can, but the best story in here is the one of how Ender met Jane. I felt all of the others to be interesting, but that one alone is the biggest reason to purchase this book. Of course, unless you understand the Ender Universe, you may be quite lost with this one.

I have read the whole Ender series, and the Bean series, the Homecoming series and I'm starting on the Alvin Maker series- they are all great...but, this book...I was disappointed in. If I hadn't read the Ender series, I wouldn't have known what was going on in the novella.

I read the Ender short story when it first came out (before the novel) and remembered it when I saw the novel. This collection of short stories, including the original short story version of Ender's Game is a great way to get a young teen interested in the entire set of story's as they grow.
