Dragonriders of Pern and Crystal Singer series great reads - looking for more!

McCafferey is one of my favorite authors of all time. Her Dragonriders of Pern are all great reads, and I heartily reccommend them without reservation. She has done dragonkind the boon of taking them from being the universal bad guys of Fantasy, and having them do good things for a change! I have noticed that she does write to a formula at times, and some people complain about that, but she sells books- and that is what puts food on the table and all the other nice things! I will not fault her for putting forth her opinions into her books- so does every other author worth their ink! Do I have to agree with everything she writes? No. But, more often than not, I like her works. I think I have about 90% of what she has written and allways want more. She has also done a good thing in collaborating with lesser-known writers to get effiete-hoity-toity snobs like myself to read them and get hooked. Example: Elizabeth Moon- I started reading her Planet Pirate collaborations with Anne, and then read her 'Deed of Paksenarrion'... I now fill my shelves with HER books too! Some people refer to her as The Grand-Dame of SciFi, but I must respectfully disagree: (Alice Mary)Andre Norton is The Grand Dame. She has been at it a bit longer than Anne, and was a trailblaizer for women in SciFi. Anne is right up there real close though.

Pern series is a very fun series but, her other books are pathetic they sell off name rec alone

Fabulous world builder. Pern will always stand out as a major contribution to fantasy mythos.

I have found the Dragons of Pern, Crystal Singer and Freedom's Series are all great reads, good story line from one book to the next. All three series are seperate and equal on their own merit.

I've read all of her books that I can find, and I loved them all. I her main series (the PERN series) is wonderful! I can't wait to see if she is going to publish any more additions to it.

McCaffrey reminds me of the three science authors: Sagan, Clarke, and Asimov, but she's better. I've only read the first of the Pern series, and I liked it, but it's just not compelling compared to other things that I've read. I'd like to read more of her work because thus far she's amazing.

With her it's either bad military Sci-Fi, or bad pulp fantasy.

I have been reading Ms. McC for almost 20 years. Like any writer, I like some books more than others and ignore stuff in the books I don;t approve of, but over the long haul, she has caught my imagination and my heart many times.

Mccaffrey would be one of hte greats if whe didn't use her stature as an author to clumsily bludgeon us over the head with her ides on homosexuality and feminity. it would not be so bad if she could write about it without making it throw you completely out of the track of the book. but when she gets ona tanget on one of her favorite issues it has nothing to do the book and is a very annoying rant to have to read through.

Read her pern stuff. It was Great, very imaginative and catching. Same too with her Rowan series

The grande dane of scifi. She is the reason I began reding it. The Pern books rank as some of the best of all time.

McCaffrey is the greatest!

Anne McCaffrey creates entire worlds for her 3 dimentional characters to inhabit. She creates worlds and people I want to visit again and again.

I have a whole shelf in my bookcase just for Anne McCaffrey novels.

She writes nice Fantasy and that's more or less all there is to say . No magic, a few dragons. The stories are situated on a colonized planet

I enjoyed the Dragon Riders of Pern series.

Anne McCaffrey is my favorite author of all time. I continually read and reread all of her books. She is THE fantasy author in my mind.

I enjoy Annie. She is one of my favorite people. And I like her books, too.

The Pern books are favorites and I have enjoyed all of them. Loved the Ship Who Sang, also.
