If you're a fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld, you absolutely must read this book. It's chock full of great Discworld characters like Rincewind, Cohen the Barbarian, DEATH, Captain Carrot, the Librarian and The Luggage. The illustrations are fantastic and add quite a bit to the humor.

If you are a fan of the discworld series you mst read The Last Hero. I was unsure if it would be worth it at first, because it is a more expensive book for a shorter story, but the artwork makes it totally worth it. And the story is standard Pratchett quality.

This is an oversize book which I'm afraid I already own in another format, but for which the cover did not look familiar.

An excellent Discworld side-story with many favorite characters (including, of course, the ever-present anthropomorphic personification of Death), and superb artwork. Don't miss it.

The Last Hero (Terry Pratchett) 3

It's not as funny as some of the Discworld novels; though there are many more pictures to enjoy. The premise is that Cohen and the other aging barbarians want to return fire to the gods ... with interest. It would be better to read the other books with Cohen in them. As the earliest is "The Light Fantastic" (the second book of the series), you might as well read the first book, The Colour of Magic (Discworld Novels).

You probably would still enjoy the book on its own, but it does not of itself give you a sense of the richness of the Discworld.
