Quite comprehensive database of recorded music that includes reviews of albums, biographies of artists, details of who was involved in the recording and production of each album, and a superb ability to cross reference participants in any given review or recording.

It provides a chronological listing of all albums by artists with well written reviews on WAY more than the product that is being pushed by the major labels. Their weekly new releases update does an excellent job of covering a variety of genres, small label and independant releases as well as major label releases.

Does very little in the way of coverage of live music, but that's for some other web service I guess.

AMG: All Music Guide is a very helpful site when trying to learn more about that artist or song that one just discovered. The site offers a biography on most artists along with professional reviews of most releases and on major tracks. The reviewers also suggest the best tracks off of each release. The run times of each track also help determine if that song one found is the original or some remix or bootleg. When researching, one can search by artist, album, song, style, label, etc. The information provided is rather extensive including release year, production credits, musician credits, etc. My biggest complaint is that I have used the site's corrections link many times, but only a few of my suggestions have been made. AMG has recently overhauled the look and format of its music site and now features an advance search feature.

while some of the facts are okay with this guide, they show little knowledge of their actual rating system. If an album is a big seller, it gets a high rating generally and if it is a small seller it gets a low rating. The ratings are not really dependent on quality.

They have inaccurate info, and I've told them about it twice but they've done nothing. I wish IMDb had a music site.

This site has a very good and huge cd database (This is where Windows Media Player 7.0 and higher gets the information for audio cd's that you stick in your cd-rom drive) I think it has alot more rarer cd's than gracenote does. it at least can provide info for madacy (an independant label) 's cd's! and It also gives alot of detials abotu artists and such. I find it to be a good site for cd info and a great cd guide! It is faster at retriving data and is faster at getting infor on new cd's than others I've tried!!
