The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time (Robert Jordan) 4

Representing this book as a guide to Jordan's world is a little misleading. I like to write Sci-Fi myself and I understand that you wind up making a pile of notes to keep your continuity in order. I even use a tabletop RPG to keep my characters highly consistent. Every writer will sometimes stray off there original intent when they realize an idea does not work.

Although I feel this book was published only to make a little extra money, it is basically Jordan's reference notes for the Wheel of time Books. Not a guide to the realm of Rand AlThor. The pictures represent original concepts not the final product.

The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time (Robert Jordan) 1

I'm not even gonna comment on the written content of this book, just the art. The art directer at TOR should be ashamed. And did Robert Jordan approve? how is it possible? there are so many great artists in the world that would have loved to do this project. And this is who they got! holy hell! the untalented artist himself should be ashamed. Why even bother including such awful drawings in this book? the book would clearly be better without the artwork. it's an absolute insult. clearly 100% of the people that see these paintings hate them. it is absolutly mind boggling that the publisher published a book full of such garbage.

for my part just read Jordan's novels and skip this piece of...

The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time (Robert Jordan) 3

I found this to be a nice read to immerse myself in the wheel of time world without picking up the entire series again. However, the art makes me throw up in my mouth a bit. After seeing some very excellent fan art, I am sad that the publisher decided to use the artist they did. I can tell that they spent maybe 3 minutes on a large number of the illustrations. Maybe they wanted it to lend to the idea of a historian making their own art to go along with their passages...probably not though.

When you have a series this big, you should reach out and get someone who is willing to at least give the rich world Robert Jordan created some visual depth. I would love to see this re-released after the final book is published, as a more comprehensive and complete guide to the wheel of time.

The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time (Robert Jordan) 3

This book contains an enormous amount of information about the world Robert Jordan created. The detail about the Age of Legends, the Forsaken, Shadowspawn, Aes Sedai, and other nations is great for diehard fans of the series.

The only problem with the content is that it doesn't include the later books. The cover art contained stops at A Crown of Swords (The Wheel of Time, Book 7), but it was published after The Path of Daggers (The Wheel of Time, Book 8), so I'm not sure how much of the series it covers. Obviously it would have been more helpful if it had been written after the final book.

The art inside can only be described as horrendous. I was hoping for some good illustrations of the characters I've been reading about, but the book covers are far better. The illustrations look like they were done by a child, most of the characters look the same.

The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time (Robert Jordan) 5

I got this book after Robert Jordan's passing. I wanted as complete a set of WoT materials as I could find. I love the series and had heard of this book on the Dragonmount podcast. I have spent a lot of time thumbing through "The World of Robert JOrdan's The Wheel of Time". The book gives a lot of background to the story of Rand, his friends and enemies. Any hardcore fan will really like having this book.
