Where's My Cow? (Terry Pratchett) 4

OK, where do I start with this one? This funny little book is a companion to Terry Pratchett's book, Thud! It tells the story of Sam Vines sitting down with his son, Young Sam, and reading Young Sam's favorite book, Where's My Cow? But, really, what a silly book; Sam Vimes, Commander of the Ankh-Morpork Watch would write an entirely different book, Where's My Daddy? And, through the subsequent telling of the tale we get to see several Ankh-Morpork regulars, including Foul Ole Ron & Gaspode, Coffin' Henry, CMOT Dibbler, Sergeant Detritus, Lord Vetinari and Lady Sybil.

Overall, I found this to be a fun book. It's way too Discworld to be used as a real kid's book, but for a fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld books, it's just right. I like seeing the Discworld inhabitants, like we did in The Last Hero. (That's right, Mr. Pratchett is not above showing his idea of what his characters look like!)

So, if you are a fan of the Discworld, and want to see some of the Ankh-Morpork regulars, then you really must check out this book. I really enjoyed seeing it, and don't hesitate to recommend it.

Where's My Cow? (Terry Pratchett) 4

This children's book follows right along the lines of most of the other Disc World type books that he has written. Probably good for about 2+ children. It is a story about a man who is reading 'Where's My Cow?' to his son. So in a since it is a story...within a story. Very cute and the illustrations are also very good.

Where's My Cow? (Terry Pratchett) 5

Though generally found in the children's picture books, this is actually an illustrated book for adult fans of the Discworld--particularly those familiar with Thud! "Where's My Cow" starts out as the picture book Sam Vimes reads to young Sam in Thud! and Pratchett has, with his usual genius, taken it and given it the ol' Discworld flavor and turned it into a hilarious romp through Ankh-Morpork. Grant's illustrations are wonderful, capturing some of the characters perfectly (Vetinari, in particular) and his fanciful book within a book drawings add a wonderful other-world feel. While not recommended as a children's picture book in general, this is wonderful addition for Discworld fans.

Where's My Cow? (Terry Pratchett) 3

I kind of thought this book would be more like the fictional book "Where's my Cow?" described in "Nightwatch", instead it is a mix of that and the book Sam Vimes thought it should be.

The difference is that the first would be enjoyed by the child, the other would be more enjoyed by a fan of Terry pratchett who is reading to a child.

Where's My Cow? (Terry Pratchett) 5

Terry Pratchett -- ably assisted by artist Melvyn Grant -- has written another great book. This one can be enjoyed even if you're not familiar with the Discworld series.
