As you may know, Urlacher is out for the season. The first half of the game with Pittsburgh saw several Steeler plays in the middle, the Urlacher country. The Bears can count themselves fortunate to have defeated the Steelers today, September 20, 2009. Urlacher will be missed badly.

Not that great. He's one dimensional. He's good at making plays, but if you watch him on an average play you will see him make alot of mistakes. He's overrated because he's fast for a linebacker. He overpursues alot. However, he's also undersized and honestly piss poor against power backs. There are plenty of great players on the Bears defense, including Nathan Vasher, Tommie Harris, and Mike Brown... It's their strong play that allows a weak but fast linebacker like Urlacher to make plays. By himself, he's average. UPDATE: I'm willing to admit my opinion of him was a little outdated. He still will make more mistakes than the average linebacker, but he is maturing. I still think on a bad defense he would look terrible. However, he does make some great plays. He relies too much on talent and not enough on his mind. I'll give him a 4 for now since he is a great talent.

Urlacher is a solid linebacker, but he needs a way better team than the BEARS!

A real decent player but he needs more seasons at a high level to be considered a great player. . .as it stands now, I consider him an overrated white player mythologized by the media. He's good, but the love-fest has got to stop until he racks up a few all-pro years.

Urlacher is in a league by himself. Probably one of the fastest LBs in history, and has the brains to go with it. A phenominal athlete and complete football player.

Urlacher is good, but to say he's as good or better than Ray Lewis is a joke. Ray Lewis is one of the best defensive players in NFL history, and has maintained that status for years. Urlacher has more size and talen than Lewis. But Lewis is a vicious linebacker, and probably the most feared player in the NFL. Lewis inspires his teammates, and makes the whole defense around him better. Running backs are scared to be hit by Ray Lewis. That's what makes Ray Lewis the best. Urlacher is very good, and one of the top MLB in the NFL, but he just isn't on the same level as Lewis.

Easily the most overrated player in the league. What did he do last season? Not much.

He started off hot, but he it too undersized to be a MLB. He didn't jack swat this past season, cause he could't handle the big men blocking him. He is so overrated, cause bears fans are grasping for something to cheer for on that crappy team. to even compare him to ray lewis is completely laughable man. let's see how crappy he does this year and it'll settle this once and for all. i might have given him a 2 but he also get's rated extra low by me because i am a packer fan. F-ck the Bears! Favre is God!

Good player, didn't make a play in all of '03. Latural movement and coverage is supurb, exposed when teams isolate him with a fullback or tight end and run up the middle. Premature to rank him as one of the best ever.

Honestly it is clear that he is the best in the game right now. He is a great player and will eventually be a legend.

I'm definitely going to get slammed for this one. OVERRATED!!! The media is just trying to continue the Butkus/Singletary tradition. Makes a lot of tackles, but isn't that his job? nobody else on that team can tackle. With Colvin gone, lets see how he does...

Brian Urlacher is the best MLB in the NFL today. You guys say ray lewis is better??? i don't think so and heres why.. Urlacher put up higher numbers than Lewis did his Rookie year with a weaker defense and to mention Urlacher is just faster and a all around better player than any MLB in the game including Ray Lewis. Urlacher has only been in the NFL for 3 years, and how many pro bowls has he been to? Thats right 3! Brain will go down in history as the greatest defensive player to ever play the game. Hes that good

Urlacher is good, but he is overrated. There are much more deserving players than he.

A college safety and kick returner turned outside linebacker. And he sucked. Then an insightful member of the coaching staff decided to move Urlacher to middle linebacker, and look what has happened. By far the fastest linebacker in the NFL, he is also one of the hardest hitters. And you talk about drive and gamesmanship, and you have a recipe for the best player at Linebacker in the NFL. Ray Lewis is good, one of the best, but Urlacher just has better physical tools (speed) and that puts him over the top.

Talk about a "hit somebody" attitude!! A magnificent player...smart, strong, and extremely athletic. In my opinion, the best all around player in pro football today!!!

He is a great backer, but nobody right now in the NFL can take over a game like Ray Lewis. Urlacher is #2 backer in my opinion.
