Geneva's ReturnJohanna Lindsey is my favorite romance author even though the story plot is relatively the same. Boy meets virgin Girl. Boy seduces virgin girl. Girl runs away or is kidnapped and is usually pregnant after first try. Boy realizes he loves girl. They get together and everything is happy. This book is the same, but I love the humor. The characters are unique even if the story is the same and the character quirks keep me coming back. Still I can only give it a four star because the plot is too much the same

I have 27 of Johanna Lindsey's older Historical Romance novels and all of the Malory Series, which I loved. I have read most of the Malory Series at lest three times and loved everyone of them. However, Johanna Lindsey's last three books have been such a disappointment, I get the feeling that she doesn't even try anymore. This latest book A Rogue of My Own was so boring that I had to force myself to read it and was really mad at myself for spending $17.00 for it. This is the last book of her's that I will buy. There are far too many really good writers out there that are worth the time and the money to read their books. What a disappointment. Ms. Lindsey should consider retiring rather than keep disappointing her long time previous loyal readers.

I have been waiting a while for this book as well. I love Johanna's work but I have to say I was dissappointed. The chapters were short and plentiful. Which is unlike this author. It was very cookie cutter unlike her previous work. The love scenes were not as discriptive as they have been in previous books and it seemed the ending was stunted somehow. Not as beleivable as it should have been. I'm sure it can't be easy to write historical romance novels so I will cut her some slack but she is a veteren of this field, I really expected sooo much more.

I have been waiting with great anticipation for the next Johanna Lindsey novel as she is one of my favorite writers. However this one seemed to fall a little flat. I just couldn't seem to identify with the characters, they felt a little predictable. Girl is seduced by boy - girl gets pregnant after one time - boy doesn't believe she's pregnant - boy and girl are forced into a marriage. Then boy and girl struggle against their attraction and eventually fall in love. I had hoped for a fresh hero to fall in love with, but I felt that too much time was spent shuffling characters around in situations and none of them were memorable enough for me to remember their names even a week later.

I love Johanna Lindsey. I fell in love with HR because I fell in love with her books. They are so creative and I always look forward to a new one. A Rogue of My Own is a very readable book and I liked the characters, but I think it lacked a spark because the hero and heroine spent way too much of the story at odds with one another. It's hard to love a book when the fighting and disagreements just go on and on and on, without a lot of loving in between. When I say there was not enough romance I don't mean in the sexual sense (although that could be said as well), I mean in the romance falling in love way. We really don't get to see that because the couple is always in a disagreement, with the implantation of a short kiss every now and then to remind the reader that they are able to tolerate one another. Also, another reader commented about the slow pace of the start of the book. I agree with that as well. There was too much time spent setting up parts of the story that turned out to be not very relevant. While I was reading the first 150 pages, I remembered thinking "Get on with it!" I never skimmed and didn't put the book down, but those pages could have been better filled with more romance or relevant story. There was also a little too much repetition of the conflict...going over the same problem and same disagreement. That said, it is a very readable story and you will probably want to read it if you are a JL fan, but it is not one of her best, yet still somewhat enjoyable because her stories and characters are always so vivid.
