Her name was Aria...a beautiful, arrogant princess from a small European kingdom. Stranded in a storm ...

The Princess is a good read, but like a few of her other books, Deveraux has the lovers, Princess Ariel and J.T Montgomery, hostile towards one another. That got a bit frustrating. It would be nice to have them against an external evil that keeps them apart rather than the constant bickering and fighting that went on between the two main characters. By the close of "The Princess" both J.T. Montgomery and Princess Aria were very different people. A nice romance between Lanconian royalty and an American commoner with elements of mystery, intrigue, and adventure. A good story from beginning to end that made me feel anger, sadness, joy, and elation.

I really enjoyed this book. JT was the perfect Montgomery, even though I did want to smack him at times for being a male chauvenist pig. And Aria was absolutely INCREDIBLE. However I felt it dragged at times - I loved their stays in America, both when she first met him and was that uptight prig, and when she became Mrs. Montgomery. But once they got to Lanconia the story seemed to just keep going and going and going and there were points where it dragged. But the ending saved the book, I loved how they got together! Certainly not my favorite Jude Deveraux, those places are held by Eternity, Mountain Laurel (PS does anyone know how Hank is related to the Montgomery's of Eternity and Mountain Laurel? I know he has to be the son of one of them since his father's company is Warbrooke Shipping but I'm not sure which...) The Raider, and Twin of Ice, but definitely rates above Twin of Fire and The Heiress. Overall on the same level as The Temptress and The Awakening (which by the way I LOVED seeing what Amanda turned into after she married Hank, Chica Chica was great!!) Feel free to read this one it's great, but again don't make it your definitive Jude Deveraux novel

This man in the Army named Jarl T. Mongomery goes on leave to a deserted island(huh) Then Jarl meets a Princess whom Jarl helps escape a murder. Of course, he is stunningly handsome and she is stunningly beautiful. (No one is ever average in these books.) They get rescued and the army decides for some convulted reason I could not comprehend, to have them get married. They fight a lot, and hate each other. They have sex in weird uncomfortable positions and places. Believe it or not it gets even more unbelievable. You could spend the time reading this book, or just rent the r rated version of the musical South Pacific.

The Princess is the story of Jurl T. Montgomery, a wounded navy man who wanted nothing else to do other than spend time on an isolated islet for a few days and fish. What he finds instead, a few days later, is two men who are trying to kill a girl who had jumped into the ocean to escape them. JT rescues her but soon is wishing that he hadn't. Aria, the girl he rescued, is a royal princess, a very beautiful, haughty and spoiled princess who expects JT to be at her beck and call because that's what she is accustomed to. By the time Aria and JT get back to the mainland, JT is anxious to get away from her. But the military has other plans. Lanconia is a vital country to the war effort so, in exchange for protection and a promise to restore her to her throne, Aria reluctantly agrees to marry JT and make him king. But JT is vehemently opposed to the plan. So the military decide to fib a bit by telling JT that the marriage will be temporary, just until Aria is safe. When JT and Aria arrive in Lanconia, the attempts on her life become more blatant. But as JT races to uncover the conspiracy behind the threats, his growing fear is how he'll ever be able to walk away from Aria when all is said and done. This was a pretty good read. It dragged in some parts but it was entertaining overall. Compared with other Jude Deveraux's books, such as A Knight in Shining Armor, I'd have to say that it would pale in comparison.

this book is one of my favorites... i've worn out my book from reading it a dozen times. the story is captivating and a real page turner.. but it was badly ended, it abruptly ended that left me asking: that's it? it's over? i hope that ms deveraux will somehow revise the ending or maybe just add an epilogue or something.
