Brave the Wild Wind (Johanna Lindsey) 3

This was my first JL book & I really like her style of writing. I can't wait to read the next 2 books in this 3 book series. I enjoyed this book & liked the storyline but I wasn't fond of the relationship between the 2 main characters. I don't expect that every couple should hit it off right from the start of a book but something about this relationship just turned me off. I didn't really care if they ended up together or not. I also thought there was too much running around in this book & that there were too many "suitors" for Jessie.

On a side note I want to say that I loved the opening of this book. I thought I had it figured out but was totally wrong. Also, I hated the spanking scene. Totally uncalled for.

It appears that I'm going to like the rest of this series & I'm sure in the end I'll recommend all 3.

Jessie Blair is a hellion at 18 years of age she has a ranch to run and debts to pay after her father has died she is a tough little girlie in boys clothes she can and does things a man would do so when her mother that has been away from some time enters your life to become her guardian she in non to pleased. Enter an attractive stranger by the name of Chase Summers and the sparks soon fly between them.
I liked this book although I read the second book (Savage Thunder) and the third book
(Angel) in this Wyoming territory before I read Brave the Wild Wind so I basically knew the story of Jessie and Chase but it didn't stop me from reading the book The misunderstandings between Jessie and Chase and Rachel was enough to keep me interested though out most of the book.
The fire that Jessie and Chase had for each other kept me reading also. They fit well together ..Learning from each other, and loving each other, brings to life a whole new love story , one that will carry them through out the ages.. A perfect read!!!!

Brave the Wild Wind (Johanna Lindsey) 3

This is the 1st book of the western series that is located around "Wyoming". I definitely recommend reading this before savage thunder and Angel.
Jessie's parents were divorced and she lived with her dad in the ranch. Her dad passed away leaving Jessie's mom as her guardian (though they havent seen each other in years) and a huge debt behind. Jessie's mom becomes worried about Jessie and the debt and asks Chase to look after Jessie.
Jessie is resentful towards her mom, but understanding the background, you will see that she is justified and eventually she makes amends. Chase is an easily likeable guy as well and I liked that he tried to understand her and do right by her.
This is a good read, especially if you are planning on reading the entire series.
few things I did not like about the book is that you didnt really see when they fell in love, they would be in the middle of arguing or just talking and then would make love: no good times, teasing, or anything besides attraction. I also felt that it was hard to keep up with the character's personalities by the end of the book because by the end they acted entirely different than they did in the beginning. Theres a scene at the end (I dont want to give it away), but Jessie acts "money hungry" instead of understaing and supporting to Chase that made me dislike her a bit at the end, then the ending was completely lacking. I dont want to say much and give it away, but dont expect the ending to blow you away.

Brave the Wild Wind (Johanna Lindsey) 4

Jessie Blair has been raised to believe that her mother is a promiscuous harlot who abandoned her. Jessie's father always wanted a son, so he raises Jessie to be the son he never had. She wears pants long past the time its acceptable for a young lady to do so, she can shoot better than most men, and she raises cattle for their ranch in Wyoming. When her father dies, Jessie is surprised to learn that he sent for her mother to act as her guardian. Since she was raised to hate her mother, Jessie is determined to prove that she's nothing like her. She treats her with such disdain that her mother sends for her friend Chase Summers to help her tame her daughter's wild ways.

Chase Summers also has questions lurking in his past. He has been searching for his father most of his life, but when his stepmother Rachel (Jessie's mother) asks for his help, he feels obliged to come running. When he first meets Rachel's willful daughter, he learns what a hoyden she can be. Chase is determined to help Rachel tame this wild child, and he falls in love with her while he's trying.

Brave the Wild Wind is the first in a series of novels about the Wyoming territory. The other two are Savage Thunder and Angel, in that order. I love Johanna Lindsey, and this book is classic JL. The heroine is a spirited girl who knows what she wants and is willing to go after it. Jessie has been raised to believe that her mother abandoned her, so she turns her hurt and confusion over that into anger and disdain. It takes her finding herself and Chase's love before she realizes that she might not have been told the complete truth. Likewise, Chase is an independent gambler who has no plans for settling down. He wants to help Rachel, but he begins to believe that Jessie might be beyond salvation. This story was fun and lively, and so much different from the historicals written today. I can't wait to go on and read Savage Thunder and Angel.

Brave the Wild Wind (Johanna Lindsey) 4

"Angel" was my first JL book, so when I found out it was the last book in a 3-part series I HAD to buy the first two books. I finished "Brave the Wild Wind" in two short evenings and loved the entire book. I've read many of the Amazon reviews and the ones that surprise me the most are the ones that say that Jessie is not likeable. I liked her very much, but perhaps that was due to the fact that I kept in mind her age and upbringing. She's a tempestuous 18-year-old tomboy from a broken home, and I think she's brilliantly complex--emotionally immature but at the same time wise beyond her years. I can't wait to start "Savage Thunder" tonight!

This book is entertaining, passionate, and a very smooth read. I recommend it to anyone that loves a good story.
