Fantastic book! Definitely goes much darker and much more adult than the books previous to this. There is a bit of romance and some darker themes throughout the book, but I would still recommend it for every age. Child and adult will both find something to love here.

I am currently on book five of the series after a crescendo of an ending to the Goblet of Fire (Book 4). There was not a dull page in the entire book! This is going on my top ten list for sure! I am 26 years old and have a wide variety of genres in my top ten list. This is definitely worth it to purchase and cherish. What an adventure!

Despite being 600+ pages long, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire flies by all too quickly. The story dashes from the murderous presence of Voldemort, to the miserable monotony of Privet Drive, to the charm and warmth of Burrow, to the glory of the Quidditch World Cup, and finally to Hogwarts, where Harry is beginning his fourth year of school.

But the action doesn't stop there, because Hogwarts is hosting an interschool competition known as the Triwizard Tournament, and someone seems to think entering Harry as a contestant might be a good way to finish him off. While contending with Triwizard feats of daring and danger, Harry is burdened with worrying about the safety of his escaped criminal godfather, avoiding the poisonous pen of Daily Prophet reporter Rita Skeeter, supporting Hermione's crusade for elf rights, and treading carefully around Ron's bruised ego...all while monitoring the disturbing signs that the most evil wizard ever known may be rising once more...

I know I say this every time, but I swear each Harry Potter book is better than the previous one. Just when you think it can't get any better, Rowling leaves you astonished and frolicking in the excitement her fantastic brand of children's literature.

The whole harry potter series of books and film is all about witchcraft. This goes against Jesus and the Bible. If you want to read a book, read the Bible. For a film watch "The Gospel Road"(1973)This great film stars Robert Elfstrom as Jesus and Johnny Cash providing narration and song. Best of all there is no flying brooms or witchcraft of any kind.

I started reading the Harry Potter Series because a friend of mine said I should. So far I have found it enjoyable. Goblet of Fire was not my favorite. I didn't like the start, but overall I did like the book and it did get better. This one does get darker, and has its moments of deep sadness. But over all its another year at Hogwars. And now that I have read the book I can watch the movie. I do look forward to reading the next one.

This is one of my favorites in the Harry Potter series.  This book is a little darker than the other three.  In this book the Tri-wizard tournament comes to Hogwarts and Harry's name mysterioulsy appears in the Goblet.  As a result Harry has to compete in the competition which involves fighting a dragon, retriving something treasured underwater, and finding the wizards cup in the maze which is filled with magical creatures that you have to fight off.  At the end of this book a Hogwarts student gets murdered.  This is a great continuation of the Harry Potter series.

My favorite Harry movie so far. I'm the biggest Harry Potter fan ever and I must say that I was HIGHLY impressed!

This book deserves a zero. i mean come on now this book is drop dead boring yea there were some good parts but overall it was so boring i only read half way through and skipped to the 5th one and so far i love it. hopefully the movie wont bore me.

My 8 year old daughter enjoyed me reading this one to her, but she doesnt rate it as highly as the previous two books. She thought it a bit long and wanted me to skip through the quidditch world cup sequence, which I have to agree doesn't half drag on. The book as a whole could've done with some judicious editing, say cutting out around 30%, which might then have warranted a 4 star rating and would've allowed me to get to bed earlier.

The fourth book of the series is when I feel the series is no longer one for children, at least very young ones. I had a reserved copy and picked this book up the day it came out, and barely put it down again (literally) until I had finished it. It was amazing. Books very rarely cause me to cry, but this one did at the end. It is amazing to see how much Rowling has progressed as a writer, and Harry and the gang as characters. The emotions are real, and increasing in complexity with age. This book keeps you guessing until the very end, and it is a real toss-up between this one and the 5th one for my favorite. A must read.

Probably my favourite Harry Potter book. It's long, but it moves smoothly and doesn't drag (unlike OotP). The HP saga really starts to grow up with the thoroughly creepy opening chapter. Here, however, the series stops being suitible for younger children. Some of the imagery is genuinely frightening and could cause nightmares. The book ends with a real bang and sets up even better things for the future.

Probably the most exciting Harry Potter, next to HP five. Voldem... I mean, You Know Who is revived and Harry has to fight him. Very excting and grabbing!

i think that this book is excellent, however, i am a little worried that it might not be appropriate for reading out loud to very young children. The greatest thing about HP books is that the characters age with the audience, so it a book more focused towards the early teens. It's a great story line and brings so much more to the HP saga. kids learn that friendships aren't always easy, that rivalries can be overcome and that even the underdog can prove himself. I just wish that other major characters would be fleshed out a little more in this book, rather than just acting in Harry's periphreal vision.

Utter crud and the worst of a poor franchise. I've had to read these to my kids much against my own judgement. Derivative, over-elaborate, long-winded, slow-moving..The popularity of these books with adults is both sad and mind-boggling, considering the number of well written books for adults out there.

This book is great. I loved it. But I must admit out of the 5 books so far out. My favorite one was the 3rd one. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. But this book is pretty great.

Just like every other Harry Potter book, I absolutely adore it! Enjoyable, unbelievably creative and full of adventure. It's impossible to NOT enjoy it. I couldn't put it down!

like most people i LOVE harry potter. all the books are great and this one is AMAZING it really probably the best so far i think i prefered it from the latest one GRIPPING another sell out for the amazinlel talented JK Rowling

It's interesting to see how the characters are dealing with adolescence.

The size of this book demonstrates value for money. It answers a need that children are discovering; that is, in the world of the imagination there can never be too much information. To want to read a book shows a depth of insight that is all too recently rarely seen. J.K.Rowling is bringing a whole generation back to the printed word. It is a monumental achievement.

It was excellent! The first time I read it I got bored about a quarter of the way through but the second time I read it all and thoroughly enjoyed it all. I hope she writes another long book as you have Harry Potter excitment for such a long time!

Not my type of book.

Very rarely do I get through a book that's over 700 pages. Most of the time, if a writer can't make their point in about 400 to 500, I feel they are wasting paper. This is one book, though, that held my attention throughout. Harry is a fourth year student in this one, and he has been entered into the Triwizard Tournament, which hasn't been held in many years. It all leads to a big showdown with you-know-who at the end. What makes me crazy is that I have finished this one, and J. K. Rowling doesn't have another one out yet. Anyway, one more point: I'm sick to death of all this crap about satanism being in the Harry Potter books. IT'S JUST NOT IN THERE! People who keep saying it's about witchcraft and satanism have obviously not read the book, and they obviously are more hung up about the devil than the rest of us. When you keep saying he's in this book or that book you are giving him more power. It's ridiculous. There is witchcraft and wizardry in the WIZARD OF OZ, but how many times have these people let their children watch that movie? Probably about a zillion. So, LIGHTEN UP!!!!

i loved it! by far the best harry potter book so far. the dramatic ending is great, and it leaves you hanging, wanting more.

This was a good book. I thought, however, that it did stop being a children's book when Frank died. Depending on the age of the reader it could be very disturbing to a small child's mind. I thought it was good to leave open a mystery at the end sort of the hook that makes you want to find out what happens next. This will make people want to buy and read the next book right when it gets out.

The book is a true jewel and a literary marvel. I hail JK Rowling for being able to bring out twist and turns in the story to lead to the most unpredictable outcomes. Even with characters like Rita Skeeter, this book is a definite must-read even with its 734 pages! (especially if you already started with the other years)

This is definitely the best book yet. I have thoroughly enjoyed every addition to the series..Rowling just gets better every time. The Goblet of Fire is entertaining, moralistic and fascinating. I enjoyed meeting the students from the other wizarding schools as well as learning even more about the characters that we already know and love. Rowling further develops the characters as well as their friendships..we also get a look into the past..She uses foreshadowing effectively and her descriptive style brings me right into the story. I find myself literally laughing out loud at times, gasping in suspense at others and crying along with or for Harry. Again, the ending more than satisfied me, yet left me wanting more. I cant wait until Year 5. Long Live Harry Potter!

I've read it twice so far and I can't wair for the fifth one to come out. There is alot of suspense as to what's going to happen next. What do you think?

The best yet. Darker than the earlier books, but if it's possible Goblet of Fire is even more engaging. I'm going nuts waiting for book 5.

listen up Beejee this is an awesome book. it teaches kids morals and in no way makes them stray away from God.

This is the latest of the Harry Potter series and by far the best. At no point in this 700+ page book does the story lag or make you want to put it down. Don't read this one without reading the first three. The subject matter in this one is meatier than in the other three.

I really think that the Harry Potter books are terrible. The function of a children's book is to give a good influence to kids. To build a child's imagination and still keep it pure. Harry Potter books are giving children an implicit influence, because its story about magic and the devil, are lying to kids. It draws them away from God to believe in the devil, as in the survey. Children should be built on a prefoundation and if you put an influence on them that will make them believe in magic and the devil, maybe they will grow up to be still under that influence. We have to remember that children are very easily influenced.

Words fail me: huge...great...stupendous...perpandicular... okay, throw out that last one. But the book is huge: 734 pages! It is also an excellent book, living up to and surpassing the standard set buy its predecessors, perhaps the best books I have ever read (and I've read a lot, believe me). I won't even try to explain it. It is HUGE.

JK Rowling has outdone herself again...book 4 is everything I was hoping for and more. This series is terrific for readers of all ages! Highly recommended.
