Haven't picked a religion but it ranks right up there with me. The peacefulness and the nature consciousness of it ranks high. Also, it seems like a very empowering religion as opposed to the dispowering beliefs of original sin and an angry sadistic god

Wicca is a Sissyfied rip off of older pagan beliefs, Around 90 years ago, Gardner made up the religion when he took paganism, cut it's balls off, forced it to wear a dress and heels, and called it Wicca

Very non-judgemental, flexible belief system, non dogmatic. Big on personal responsibility. I am NOT Wiccan but know many.

Whatever its origins, In Wicca we have an attempt to harness magic ( one most oldest known of only a few holistic systems that realize the awesome potential of Humanity's creative potential, what in my opinion may be our quantum intelligence birthright) into an ordered system using the order and harmonic balance observed in nature as a logical framework. This is good what is bad is the persistent tendency to deify numerous spirits and defer to superstitious traditions that constrict the outlook of seekers. A neo feminist arrogance has also settled into this movement that smacks of the ancient serpent cult's influence. It is probably sad that Christian persecution of both magic practice and ironically it's more inquisitively methodical and consensus oriented cousin the Scientific methods so successfully, I wonder if humanity might be further along in understanding it's ultimate place in the universe and have a better sense of our priorities and I'm sure as individuals and communities would be more equipped to deal with potential threats from the known and the unknown.

I may not be Wicca myself, but I find wicca to be a very sensual and natural religion. When practiced with caution and extreme devotion the effects can be amazing....

obviously I'd think so-but I am also a solitary practioner, and if I feel that I need insight, I pray and chant, as I am a solitary practioner-initially, 12yrs. ago, I referred to several books about Wicca(mostly Celtic and Nordic) in order to understand it-however, now that I'm grown, am able to seek advice from my guide, and "travel" to the astral plane, I do not seek insight or advice from "men", cuz who kno's if Gardener was right?! not one person in my opinion, n u also have ppl that used manipultion in order to to "create" what they wished to happen(I'm speaking of Aleister Crowley, just for example-there have been others that do that as well, but Crowley is most well known to most ppl)-tho, at this point in time(for bout 12yrs. now) this is my chosen path, so I do recognize that I'm biased

Another attempt of humans to deny the Sovereignty and Uniqueness of the God of the Bible. Contains many practices and teachings which go against the word of God, therefore, heretical.

I fully understand Wicca, and dabble a bit, but I am not a devoted practioner. The nice thing about Wicca is you can fine tune it to your lifestyle.
myspace-369481537 06/02/2008
I have a problem with this one too. Mainly it's the followers, and not the religion. This could be why I'm not a Wiccan though. But on to my point, I doubt that if you decide you are a Wiccan that all of a sudden you can work 'magic' whether it be from earth or no. It's all these Harry Poter maniacs who can't destiguish reality and they go and join a group of people who actually understand the religion. It makes me want to punch babies... Mainly, I'm saying that the new 'members' who claim to be wiccan are onlydoing so to gain attention or to feel like somebody special in this world of chaos.

Wicca is affiliated to early witchcraft and Druids. There are some fundamentals from witchcraft, but not all of it.(It has a bit of everything in it!!) I would say it is a watered down/re-worded version of witchcraft, something like the New Age Movement! (The new age being a re-hash of Buddhism, Hinduism and Paganism.) For a Christian it is referred to as paganism and is far from Christ. Many who get mixed up in this do not realize its origins and think that it is nothing but health and fun! (Sorry but it is very different from that.) All you need to do is go into the history of Wicca and you will quickly find how it was created. (It has disguised its origins.) Always look at the fundamentals of something before you commit yourself, otherwise you won't understands its real purpose!
magellan 05/28/2008
If I could buy stock in Wicca as an up and coming religion, I would. Green everything is super hip right now - why wouldn't this extend to areas of faith as well?
irishgit 05/01/2008
They may put the Kook in KooKoo for Cocopuffs but they seem like they're having a good time. I could care less what they believe, in much the same way I care less what Lutherans, Buddhists, Free Kirks, or whatever else believe.

Eh, it comes down to mind over matter. Rituals are merely tools to convince the mind. Every religion has a few thrown in. Even movies use a few techniques to manipulate your minds attention as do sales people.
Who knows what power a mind holds when it believes in something. The power of the mind is the 'magic'. For this reason be cautious in what you believe.

GenghisTheHun - How can you talk about the people who were killed in the burning times like that..."stamped out". Innocent people were hunted down and burned at the stake for the sake of the "age of enlightenment". These people were knowledgeable of plants, herbs and natural healing - and they were murdered for it. Thousands of women and children. But of course the organized religions would never admit or talk about that. I attended a Catholic school for 12 years and came out Wiccan. That should say something. Not once in history class were we taught of the burning times - when so many people died. Have a little respect for the dead, and open your mind to other beliefs. It is because of people like you that we have wars based on religion. All paths lead to the same god. Maybe one day you'll realize that. And if people want to have funny bumper stickers of a Wiccan nature (I sell them ) then so be it! What about all the bumper stickers I see about WWJD? (What would Jesus do?). But that's okay insn't it? Because it's the norm - it's not "different". Grow up.
