Gave this BBC radio set as a Christmas present to a visually impared person. Have heard part of it myself and it is extremely well done. As is not usual, there is a full cast of readers. There are nuances in the stories that were not captured in the BBC TV series starring Jeremy Brett (although that was wonderful and I own the entire series). Additionally nicely presented in a box with informative covers for the CD's. A must have for Holmes fans!

If you really enjoy Sherlock Holmes then you positively have to get this set. The audio is fantastic - no hissing or background distractions. Pure sound. Actors are the best too. This is definitely a worthwhile purchase.

This is THE comprehensive, all-inclusive, multi-cast audio edition from BBC Radio. Remember that these were radio shows of approximately 45-minutes (uninterrupted) or, in the case of the books such as The Hound of the Baskervilles, two 45-minute radio shows. This means that they are edited, abridgements to fit the format. Yet these are much more true to the original than the American radio shows of the forties (Basil Rathbone & others), which were limited to about 20 minutes (a 30-minute format interrupted by two long commercials and other announcements).

I love the BBC Sherlock Holmes CDs. The product arrived damaged. I find it impossible to talk to someone at Amazon to return the item. I would still like to return the item for an undamaged set.

I have listened to many of the Sherlock Holmes recordings in the marketplace. The BBC Radio Complete Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes Cd set outshines them all. The production values are outstanding, and Clive Merrison is a great Holmes. Don't let the price scare you - it works out to just over $2.50 per CD
