Lavender Morning: A Novel (Jude Deveraux) 5

This was my first JD book to read and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was light reading and the characters were developed well. It mixed romance, mystery, and humor together. I found myself rooting for Luke even though he was a longshot. I'm sure I'll read another JD book soon. The story was plausible for fiction and I enjoyed the ending.

One strange thing: The book went into detail describing the southern mansion but the book cover showed a picture of the mansion that did not match the description in the book. Can you judge a book by its cover?

Jude devereaux is one of my favorite authors and this book was a wonderful read. The story within a story was fun to follow. It wasn't her typical highland stuff either which was interesting I truly enjoyed the WW2 aspect.

Lavender Morning: A Novel (Jude Deveraux) 3

I have to say I enjoyed Lavender Morning. It is sweet. I will agree that it is not as good as some of her earlier work, but it is sooooooo much better than the last few. It is nice to see her put the new age stuff behind her and find her way back to a good solid story. I am looking forward to the next one in the series and that is something I have not been able to say about JD in a long time.

Lavender Morning: A Novel (Jude Deveraux) 3

I am not as satisfied with LM as I have been with Jude Deveraux's older books. The story was ok, the book read like a typical 1st book in a triology - lots of characters and setup, but I am not sure i want to read the next 2 books. The ending was totally unbelievable to me if we are to believe that Miss Edi and Joce texted or used any modern communication device. I purchase JD books for the "spark" between the characters, the humor and the buildup to the resolution. LM was ok and I feel like a traitor for saying this.

Lavender Morning: A Novel (Jude Deveraux) 3

I've always enjoyed a good Deveraux book.Lavender Morning had me from the 1st pages. I couldn't put it down. I loved the town and the people within it and the intertwing relationships.Lots of twists and turns...it seemed as though everyone was holding on to a secret, and the way Joce was trying so hard to solve all the mystery around the house she inherited, Edi the woman she grew to love who helped to raise her and the citizens of the town. However I did have some real issues with LM.This read more like ficton then that of a romance.too much mystery and not enough romance.Yes, there was a little, but, not enough to place in the romance section. The book was overly dense with characters, that I had to keep on going back to see who did what to who and when.As one was question was answered more questions appeared. The ending was also a bit contrived( I don't want to give away any spoilers )But in the end I was happy for Joce.I quess that's what counts after all...the happily ever after...or did she really get one? You will have to read it and let us know what you think.
