 | MissPackRat4Jesus (42) 03/13/2008 | Archie Comics has been a long-time favorite of mine. I still love them to this day! They retain their squeaky-clean G-rating in this X-rated world. Any parents out there whose children like comic books, encourage them to read Archie Comics. It is GOOD READING, at least as far as comic books are concerned. The stories were written with great care, and with BOTH GENDERS in mind, unlike some of the other popular comics. There are even sometimes lessons to be learned from the mistakes the characters make. Many children have claimed that these comics have helped to build their vocabulary and sharpen their reading skills, and I can certainly see why. That's what Archie comics did for me during childhood, only I didn't even realize it at the time. I just had fun reading them (and occasionally making "Silly Putty" pictures with them). I didn't care too much for the other comic books. Now that I've had a chance to reminisce a little, I have a greater appreciation for these comics than ever before. For over 60 years, these little stories have remained consistent in clean humor... this partly explains their timeless appeal, which is likely to last for generations to come.

 | bigtimecrime (0) 03/26/2005 | Moderator PBeavr is way off base on this one. I am a serious collector of comic books with over twenty thousand of them. I still buy Archie comics (B&V) etc every month. They were one of my first exposures to the medium, and still relevent for childeren today. Now you have met someone who is a serious collector and likes them.

 | archierocks (0) 01/02/2003 | Archie comics are the best comic book out there for kids and adults alike to read. They do not focus on many of the things that most comic books do, like fighting, drugs, and sex. They are pure and true to their time. Throughout the years they have changed, but they are still the same old characters.

 | Solenoid DH (20) 03/04/2002 | Looking at the Archie comics now that I'm in late middle age, they don't seem all that impressive. No comics do. But 30 years ago, I lived for the day when another issue of "Archie," "Jughead," "Laugh," or "Pep" would come out. I wished Betty were a real person. If I'd been in Archie's shoes, I never would have given Veronica the time of day when Betty was available.

 | Errol (5) 03/01/2002 | I read Archie as a kid in the 70s. It became my favorite comic book back then. I identified with the characters. I later became interested in vintage Archie and started reading Archie comics from the 60s and earlier, which I found to be even more interesting. It encouraged me to read, which in itself is something that would make me want to introduce it to my kids.
